Raleigh Rocks Half Marathon highlights a busy weekend for Triangle runners

From Virginia Beach and Philadelphia to Los Angeles and San Diego,
there's the 14-city Rock 'N' Roll Marathon Series combining music and
running.

Raleigh takes off on its own with its version of running and rocking with Saturday's Bank of America Raleigh Rocks Half Marathon, the longest event of a full weekend of benefit race opportunities for Triangle runners. (A list is below.)

The 13-mile course for the 8 a.m. half marathon starts and ends at the
Bank of America building on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh.

DBAP sets park record for ACC tourney

DURHAM — Durham Bulls Athletic Park pulled its best showing yet for combined attendance at the ACC Baseball Championship this week.

Attendance for the event, over 13 games beginning Wednesday, was at 39,669 in a preliminary count by The News & Observer.

That’s the best the event has ever done in Durham, beating the city’s previous high-mark for the event in 1998, when 24,162 showed.

Individual ACC tickets on sale Monday

Individual tickets for the ACC Baseball Championship, which starts May 20 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, go on sale on Monday.

State and Central moved to Doak

They would have played at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

But rain the last four days has made DBAP unavailable for baseball.

So today's mid-week game between N.C. State and N.C. Central had to be moved to Doak Field. The game's at 6:30 p.m.
