Duke couldn't buy a shot in the first half against N.C. State but the Blue Devils couldn't miss in the second.

Duke shot 76 percent in the second half to erase a six-point N.C. State lead and beat the Wolfpack going away 73-56 at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Tuesday night.

Duke overcomes Pack in OT

RALEIGH — N.C. State might be winless in the ACC, but the Wolfpack is flat out dangerous.

After taking No. 2 North Carolina to overtime, the Pack did it to No. 4 Duke. And just like that game, N.C. State ran out of juice — although the Blue Devils gave the Pack every opportunity before walking away with the 61-58 victory.

In overtime, the Devils (16-1, 4-0 in the ACC) got the ball to center Chante Black and exploited its sizable advantage in the post.

Deacs take over top spot; Duke No. 2

For the first time since Chris Paul left for the NBA, Wake Forest is the No. 1 team in the country.

The Demon Deacons (16-0), the only undefeated team in college basketball, received 68 first-place votes to take the top spot in the AP Top 25 for the first time since November 2004.

Q&A with Mike Krzyzewski

Excerpts from Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski on the ACC teleconference as the Blue Devils prepare to play host to N.C. State at 8 p.m. on Tuesday:

ACC > Big East?

The ACC improved to 9-6 against the Big East on Saturday with Duke's 76-67 win over Georgetown and will likely finish the regular season with a 10-6 mark against the 16-team superconference.

Statistically, 10-6 should answer any question about conference supremacy, after all, what greater measure is there than head-to-head results?

The Super Bowl is old hat for the UNC duo on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Running back Willie Parker (Clinton High School, home of the Dark Horses) and kicker Jeff Reed helped Pittsburgh and former coach Bill Cowher win Super Bowl XL.

Parker and Reed are back in Super Bowl XLIII and they'll have ACC company. Nineteen former ACC players will be in Tampa on Feb. 1 for America's holiday between Pittsburgh and
the Arizona Cardinals, even Duke, with the fewest ACC alumni in the NFL, has two representatives.
