What to Watch on Saturday: Mick Jagger has all the moves on SNL season finale

America's Got Talent (8pm, NBC) - NBC is repeating this week's premiere, which features new judge Howard Stern. Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne return as judges, and Nick Cannon is back as host. This first episode features auditions in St. Louis and Los Angeles.

Saw Dogs (9pm, Discovery) - You can get your fix of chainsaw-sculpting with tonight's "Saw Dogs" marathon. Some of the creations featured in tonight's episodes are a mother whale and her baby, a massive tree house, and a soaring eagle for a golf course.

American Warships (9pm, Syfy) - The crew of the USS Iowa take on a fleet of hostile alien spaceships. This is a movie, by the way.

Saturday Night Live (11:29pm, NBC) - Mick Jagger pulls double duty on SNL's 37th season finale, hosting and providing the music. Jagger is scheduled to perform without his fellow Stones, so don't expect to see Keith Richards tonight. Jagger is pictured here in a 2001 "Saturday Night Live" skit with Jimmy Fallon.

Today's giveaway takes you north to Alaska (and closer to Santa)

Today's giveaway takes you north to Alaska -- and closer to Santa's  workshop?

We have first season DVD sets of "Flying Wild Alaska" and "Gold Rush Alaska," both shows currently airing on the Discovery Channel.

"Flying Wild Alaska" follows Jim Tweto as he battles the elements to keep his family-run Era Alaska business on track. "Gold Rush Alaska" follows Todd Hoffman as he leads a group of greenhorn miners into Alaska in search of gold. New episodes of "Gold Rush Alaska" and "Flying Wild Alaska" both air tonight at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., respectively.

The winner gets both sets, but you can't win if you don't play. So send me an email by midnight tonight and you'll be entered in the drawing.

Good luck!

Today's DVD giveaway is deadly

Season 7 of Discovery's "Deadliest Catch" saw the return of the Cornelia Marie, but without her legendary captain, Phil Harris, who passed away during the filming of Season 6. Phil's sons Jake and Josh are back on the boat, but sailing with a new captain.

The season also introduced two brand new skippers -- Elliott Neese and Scott Campbell. There was plenty of drama.

The DVD has the entire season plus a "Behind the Scenes of Season 7" featurette, and a look at the "Best of Season 6."

And it can all be yours! Just send me an email by midnight tonight and you'll be entered in a random drawing for the 4-dvd set. Include your mailing address and we can get the DVD out to you quicker.

Good luck!

Shark Week 2011 goes interactive

It's once again that time of year when I'm reminded of why I don't go into the ocean past my ankles: Shark Week.

Shark Week 2011 kicks off tonight on Discovery with Chief Shark Officer Andy Samberg ("Saturday Night Live") serving as host for the entire week.

Discovery is bringing back some old favorites for their 24th annual thrill-fest ("Top Five Eaten Alive," am I right?), but there are also seven brand new shark shows debuting this year.

Also, for the first time, Shark Week 2011 will feature live co-viewing for iPad, iPhone, and web users. Download the apps or be at the Shark Week website each night for three consecutive hours of interactive content designed to enhance your Shark Week TV viewing.

Things start tonight at 9 with one of Discovery's new programs. "Great White Invasion" is a chilling look at why great white sharks are suddenly being found swimming around surfers and vacationers from South Africa to Australia, and up and down the California coast. Why? WHY!? After that, another new show, "Jaws Comes Home," tells the story of shark expert Greg Skomal as he documents six months following five great whites with names like Curly and Ruthless. His mission is to understand more about their 1,200 mile journey up and down the eastern seaboard.

Check out the full Shark Week schedule at the official Shark Week website, where you can also view shark galleries and watch videos.

What to Watch on Saturday: Harry Potter movie marathon

Harry Potter movie marathon (9am, ABC Family) - ABC Family is airing an all-day marathon of Harry Potter movies, beginning at 9am with "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" follows at 12:30pm, and then "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" at 4:30pm, and "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" at 7:30.

Battlestar Galactica (7pm, BBC America) - President Roslin questions the judgement of Adama and Apollo when they put the fleet at risk to find Starbuck, whose Viper disappeared after a run-in with a Cylon patrol. A second episode airs at 8.

Dino Gangs (8pm, Discovery) - The remains of 68 Tyrannosaurus rexes are recovered in the Gobi Desert, and research suggests that the species may have been deadlier than previously thought.

A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner! (8pm, Nick) - A live-action version of the cartoon "The Fairly OddParents" finds 23-year-old Timmy (Drake Bell) wanting to remain a kid forever so he can hold on to his fairy godparents. However, he considers changing his mind when a grown-up Tootie returns to town.

Carson Nation (10pm, OWN) - Carson travels to Scottsdale, Arizona, where he helps a transgender woman who has lived as a man for 60 years.

What to Watch on Wednesday: Discovery looks at Wallendas' "Life on a Wire"

The Voice (8pm, NBC) - The final four singers are unveiled in a results show.

Franklin & Bash (9pm, TNT) - It saddens me that Harry Hamlin ("LA Law") is guest starring on a show about lawyers and that show is "Franklin & Bash."

Life on a Wire (10pm, Discovery) - A sneak peek at a new limited series commissioned by Discovery that profiles highwire walker Nik Wallenda and his incredible family.

Primetime Nightline: Beyond Belief (10pm, ABC) - The first of a five-part series from the producers of "Nightline" on spirituality and ESP opens by exploring possible extrasensory links between identical twins that are said to enable them to share emotions and physical sensations when they're not together. Juju Chang reports.

Men of a Certain Age (10pm, TNT) - Joe's friendship with bookie Manfro becomes more twisted and tangled. Also, Owen plants hidden cameras in the dealership to observe the behavior of his sales team, and Terry's date night goes off course.

Rocco's Dinner Party (10pm, Bravo) - Three chefs compete to serve a themed meal for Rocco's mystery guest, described as a "well traveled culinarian" (Anthony Bourdain?). Other guests include D.L. Hughley, Mary Alice Stephenson, Bebel Gilberto, Gilles Mendel, and Cindi Levine.

Returning to the misery of 'Deadliest Catch'

'Deadliest Catch,' the reality show most closely associated with danger, death, and misery, returns for its 7th season tonight on Discovery Channel.

The heartbreaking death of Captain Phil Harris was chronicled on the show last season, and then several weeks ago, Time Bandit crew member Justin Tennison was found dead in a hotel room.

It's that kind of drama -- both onscreen and off -- that keep fans invested in the Emmy-winning reality show, which documents "the most dangerous job in the world."

What to Watch on Saturday: Mixed martial arts and Hallmark

Cops & Coyotes (8pm, Discovery) - Three back-to-back episodes of a docu-series looking at the smuggling of aliens across the U.S. - Mexican border.

UFC Fight for the Troops (9pm, Spike) - A broadcast of the mixed martial arts benefit for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which takes place tonight at Fort Hood, Texas (the first benefit, which raised more than $4 million dollars, was in Fayetteville). The IFHC is trying to finance a traumatic-brain-injury treatment center for the U.S. Military.

Backyard Wedding (9pm, Hallmark) - A new Hallmark movie about a medical school graduate (Alicia Witt, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent") who returns to her childhood home to plan her backyard wedding. Her ex-husband and former neighbor (Teddy Sears) is also in town, and his presence forces her to reconsider her current relationship just days before the wedding. Also stars Ryan Bittle, Frances Fisher and Markie Post.

Austin City Limits (Midnight, UNC-TV) - Alternative rockers Sonic Youth perform songs from their 2009 "Eternal" album, and The Black Keys, a blues-rock duo, sing tracks from the 2010 "Brothers" album.

Discovery gunman got bomb-making tips watching "Mythbusters"

Get this. NBC is reporting that the bomb-strapped gunman who took hostages today at the Discovery Channel Headquarters got some bomb-making tips by watching the show "Mythbusters" -- which airs on Discovery.

NBC  had a ten-minute conversation with James Lee before police shot and killed him.

Discovery Communications operates the Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Science Channel, and Planet Green networks.

Discovery Channel hostage taker's manifesto

James Lee, the guy who has taken hostages at the Discovery Channel today, has a crazy manifesto on his website, SavethePlanetProtest.com. The site has crashed today because of heavy traffic, but here's a cached version of his list of demands.

Lee is pictured here at a protest at Discovery Channel Headquarters in 2008.
