What to Watch on Sunday: Chalky White wants revenge

Undercover Boss (9pm, CBS) - The CEO of DirecTV works undercover at his company and discovers that employees are spending their own money for a vital piece of work equipment. Gee. Wonder what that's like...

Boardwalk Empire (9pm, HBO) - The exiled Jimmy makes the rounds with Al Capone in Chicago, though the two budding gangsters don't always agree on methods. Also, Lucky Luciano finds a surprise on a visit to Jimmy's apartment and Chalky White (Michael Kenneth Williams, right) tries to solve a murder.

Rubicon (9pm, AMC) - Believe it or not, last week's "Rubicon" had pulse-pounding action and suspsense. There are only two episodes left counting tonight's, in which API works with the FBI and CIA to stop a terrorist strike. Also, Kale Ingram turns to an unlikely source to try to keep Katherine out of harm's way. And we assume Will is now sleeping with one eye open.

Dexter (9pm, Showtime) - Dexter hires a nanny to free up his time to stalk murder suspects and potential victims. There are some really stunning moments in this episode, especially in the last 20 minutes. Don't miss!

Brothers & Sisters (10pm, ABC) - Is Kitty ready to move on after Robert's death? I mean, it's been two whole weeks. Tonight she meets a handsome handyman played by Jeremy Davidson. Also, the family plans a surprise birthday party for Sarah, but Luc is the one surprised when he learns her real age.

Mad Men (10pm, AMC) - Don encounters an old friend while coping with disastrous events at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. Also tonight, Sally (Kiernan Shipka, left) tries to get closer to Betty and her stepfather Henry. The words, "Betty, please be nice" jump to mind. After tonight, only one more episode this season.

Bored to Death (10pm, HBO) - The S&M case comes back to haunt Jonathan when he's kidnapped by a pair of thugs looking for the dungeon's computer hard drive. George (Ted Danson) gets some bad news from his urologist, but springs into action to help Ray (Zach Galifianakis) after getting the ransom call from Jonathan.

LA Times asks "Dexter" star about Ravenscroft in Raleigh

There's a nice interview with "Dexter's" Michael C. Hall in the current Los Angeles Times Magazine, and right off the bat, the interviewer asks the North Carolina native about growing up in Raleigh and attending Ravenscroft. It's a brief exchange, but kind of funny.

Check it out.

"Dexter" Season 5: Bloody, dazed and confused

"Dexter" returns for its fifth season tonight, picking up right where things left off in season four. After being reminded once again of Dexter's gruesome bathroom discovery, we see him on his knees in his front yard, clutching his baby boy in his bloody hands while blue lights flash all around. Our vigilante serial killer is shaken to his core and so stunned by Rita's murder that he mutters, "It was me" to the police who first arrive on the scene.

But as guilty as Dexter looks -- and boy is he ever a perfect suspect for something like this -- we all know it wasn't him but Trinity who did the deed. But like Dexter, we also know it was because of Dexter's dangerous relationship with Trinity that Rita was targeted, and that is what has our usually composed protagonist unraveling in the premiere.

Michael C. Hall is truly great as the dazed, zombie-like Dexter, who stumbles around in the aftermath of Rita's murder processing his guilt and flashing back to memories of when they first met (giving Julie Benz a chance to reprise her role). Dexter has always known he would eventually cause his loved ones pain, but imagined it would be the pain of hurt and public humiliation when he was finally caught, not that anyone would actually have to die. More acutely than ever before, Dexter must reckon with the inevitability that his darkness will destroy the innocent people who love him.

Desperate Housewives (9pm, ABC) - For Season 7, Vanessa Williams joins the cast as Lynette's rich friend Renee Perry. Also, Paul Young returns to Wisteria Lane  after his release from prison, and he and his new wife move into Susan's house. Meanwhile, Susan is offered a job in the apartment building where she and Mike now live, and the newly single Bree is tempted by her handyman, played by Brian Austin Green.

Dexter (9pm, Showtime) - In Season 5, Dexter must deal with the aftermath of Rita's murder, making a decision that will impact many of those in his circle. Quinn concludes that Rita's death doesn't match Trinity's MO, and steps up to help Debra in a time of trouble. Here's our review of tonight's premiere.

Undercover Boss (9pm, CBS) - The new season starts with the CEO of Choice Hotels International taking on various jobs within his company.

Trailer released for Season 5 of "Dexter"

Showtime released their chilling trailer for season 5 of "Dexter" at Comic-Con this past weekend.

Spoilers ahead.

Eli Stone moves to "Dexter"

Jonny Lee Miller, who played a singing corporate lawyer in ABC's short-lived legal dramedy "Eli Stone," has been cast for the upcoming season of "Dexter."

Showtime says Miller will play a mysterious stranger who gets involved with a character played by Julia Stiles, who will appear in 10 of the season's 13 episodes. There was no additional information about Miller's role, but Stiles apparently will play a woman who forms a relationship with "Dexter" in the wake of ... you know (I know people who are trying to catch up on Season 4 right now, so I'm not going to spoil anything).

"Dexter," which stars Raleigh native Michael C. Hall, begins filming its fifth season this month.

Dexter's Michael C. Hall "fully recovered" from cancer

Great news! Jennifer Carpenter, the wife of actor Michael C. Hall, tells the Associated Press that Hall is "fully recovered" from cancer.

Hall, a native of Raleigh, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma last year and has been undergoing treatment.

He won both a SAG award and a Golden Globe in January for his portrayal of the serial killer (with a heart of gold) on this past season's "Dexter." Carpenter also stars in "Dexter" and plays the step sister of Hall's character.

"Dexter" airs on Showtime and begins shooting its fifth season soon.

"Dexter's" Michael C. Hall has cancer

Raleigh native and "Dexter" star Michael C. Hall announced in a statement today that he has cancer and is currently receiving treatment in Los Angeles.

Hall has Hodgkin's Lymphoma and says the cancer was caught at an early stage and is "treatable and curable." According to a spokesman for Hall, the cancer appears to be in remission.

A spokesman for Hall said the actor plans to return to production for the 5th season of "Dexter" later this year.

New season of "Dexter" terrifies with creepy John Lithgow

Showtime's critically acclaimed and incredibly creepy drama "Dexter" returns tonight for its fourth season, and the show's serial-killing hero, if you can call him that, is in the scariest situation of his life: fatherhood.

That's right. This season, Dexter (played by Raleigh native Michael C. Hall), is newly married with two stepkids and a baby son who apparently never sleeps. And even though Dexter's schedule is beyond full, what with all the working as a blood analyst  while stalking and killing bad guys on the side, his wife Rita, who as far as I can tell doesn't do much of anything, has Dexter getting up with the baby in the middle of the night, singing the baby lullabies while he's supposed to be working, and running all kinds of baby-related errands.

That makes for one very sleep-deprived and sloppy killer. That sloppiness gets Dexter into huge trouble starting off in episode one.

But apart from Dexter's uncomfortable adjustment to life as a suburban family man, the big story of season 4 will be the crazy new serial killer in town (besides Dexter, we mean). . . .

What to Watch on Sunday: Huge premiere night starts with Amazing Race

Amazing Race 15 (8pm, CBS) - Contestants begin their journey
tonight in Los Angeles, but soon find themselves in Tokyo trying to survive a Japanese game show. Lots of great teams this year, but one stands out for me: two Harlem Globetrotters.

The Simpsons (8pm, Fox) - It's season 21 for our favorite Springfield family, and tonight's debut was co-written by Seth Rogen.
Rogen also lends his voice to the trainer getting Homer ready for his super hero movie role. Look for lots of big name guest stars this season, such as Sarah Silverman and Anne Hathaway.

Cleveland Show (8:30, Fox) - A "Family Guy" spinoff from Seth McFarlane and Mike Henry about a divorced father who returns to his hometown and romances his first love, who now has children of her own. Fox also debuts "Family Man," and "American Dad" tonight.

Desperate Housewives (9pm, ABC) - A "beloved character" is
attacked in tonight's premiere, and much of season 6 will focus on solving the question of whodunnit. There's a mysterious new couple on the block, played by Drea de Matteo ("Sopranos") and Jeffrey Nordling ("24"). The show will also immediately reveal who was at the altar with Mike in last year's finale -- Susan or Katherine?

Dexter (9pm, Showtime)
- Season 4 opens with Dexter in full Family Man mode. He's married now with two stepchildren and a new baby. The only problem is he's still dicing up bad guys in his spare time. Keith Carradine returns as Agent Frank Lundy get Dexter's help in tracking a new serial killer called The Trinity Killer, because he kills in threes. A mind-blowingly creepy John Lithgow plays Trinity.

Californication (10pm, Showtime) - Hank is up to his old nasty tricks this season, and has expanded his tom-catting territory to academia.

Cold Case (10pm, CBS) - For the seventh season debut, the team is investigating the 1966 murder of a young woman aboard a luxury ocean liner.

Brothers & Sisters (10pm, ABC) - Another season, another medical crisis for an unnamed member of the Walker family. Also, this season, Kitty and Robert try to save their marriage, and Sarah has a fling with "Dancing with the Stars" and "Sex in the City" French hottie Gilles Marini. And Nora and Holly will fight a lot, of course.

There's also some great stuff airing tonight in non-premiere news...
