CHAPEL HILL — A couple of North Carolina football personnel notes to pass along on this Saturday from Chapel Hill, where the Tar Heels earlier today hosted their annual fan day and media day festivities.

First things first: UNC coach Larry Fedora announced that Fabby Desir, who started two games at linebacker a season ago, has left the team. Desir would have been a senior this season. He transferred to UNC before the 2011 season from Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pa. 

The University of North Carolina will hold fullback Devon Ramsay out of today's game against Clemson and announced that senior safety Jonathan Smith will not play this season.

Ramsay had played in the first four games and scored a touchdown in the opener against Louisiana State but the school said it obtained new information this week as a part of its ongoing investigation into agent-related benefits and academic misconduct.
