In Game: 73rd Shrine Bowl — N.C. wins, 24-14

North Carolina goes up 24-14 with 2:31 to play on a 32-yard TD run by Keenan Allen on fourth-and-3.

North Carolina loses the ball inside of the 5-yard-line on a botched handoff exchange and Lattimore scores on another 1-yard run three plays later. It's 17-14 North Carolina with 14:01 to play.

South Carolina gets within 10 points on a 1-yard run by Lattimore with 9.2 seconds to play in the third quarter. North Carolina takes over at the 2-yard-line after Snead tried to field the kick off and lost it out of bounds as the fourth quarter starts.

Smithfield-Selma's Josh Snead has 26 yards rushing at the half, one less than Parks, who leads North Carolina in rushing. 

South Carolina's Lattimore has 22 yards rushing at the break to lead the Sandlappers.

South Johnston's Dee Williams hasn't caught a pass in the first half. There have been only four passes completed.

Lattimore carried the ball twice in the final minute, picking up about 20 yards on the two carries. It's 17-0 at the half in North Carolina's favor.

North Carolina turns another South Carolina fumble (this one on a botched punt return) into another touchdown. Kevin Parks of West Rowan roars in from 5 yards out and N.C. is up 17-0 after the extra-point with 59.3 seconds to play in the first half.

Of note, South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore, the top-rated running back in the country by many scouting services, has touched the ball just once so far in the first half.

The Tar Heels lead 10-0 after Martin recovers a fumble that the N.C. offense turns into a 40-yard field goal by Jamestown Ragsdale's Kasey Redfern. There's 11:06 to play in the first half.

North Carolina jumps out to a 7-0 lead on the final play from scrimmage of the first quarter when Roanoke Rapids' Kareem Martin strips S.C. quarterback Cody Craig and Chris Smith of West Rowan scoops up the fumble and return it 67 yards for a touchdown.

Live from the 73rd Annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas

It's a warmer than expected 45 degrees and beautifully sunny here in Gibbs Stadium on the campus of Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C. as pregame activities get rolling for the annual battle between the best prep football stars of North Carolina and South Carolina.

Kick off is set for 1 p.m. 

South Carolina's won the last two in the series and leads the all-time series, 40-28-4.

We'll be keping a keen eye on the Triangle-area stars today:

Dee Williams of South Johnston

T.J. Ross and A.J. Marshall of Southern Durham

Carson Moss of Leesville Road

Anthony Johnson of Harnett Central

Athens Drive lineman Robert Crisp was selected for the game but was an injury scratch.
