GOP and Debra Goldman campaign mailers

Here are a pair of campaign mailers from the Wake County Republican Party and school board candidate Debra Goldman.

In this final mailer, the GOP urges voters to stop the "roller coaster ride" that the school board has been taking families and taxpayers on.

In this mailer from Goldman, she plugs endorsements form Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison, Cary Town Councilman Don Frantz and Wake County parent Rene Hart.

New TV ad attacks Wake neighborhood school candidates

A new television ad appearing on WRAL is attacking three of the school board candidates, warning that backing neighborhood schools will lead to higher property taxes.

The ad, from a group called Wake Citizens for Good Government, attacks three of the four candidates backed by the Wake Schools Community Alliance: Chris Malone, Deborah Prickett and Debra Goldman. But it doesn't go after John Tedesco, who is also backed by the WSCA but isn't facing a Democratic Party endorsed opponent.

Here's the text of the ad:

Theft interrupts school board forum

As some of you have heard if you were listening to the radio today, school board candidate Debra Goldman's car was broken into while she was on WPTF.

Goldman's car was in the station's parking lot as she was conducting a forum with fellow District 9 candidate Lois Nixon. The theft resulted in Goldman having to leave the Bill LuMaye show early.

Goldman said many things were stolen. She said the car also sustained quite a lot of damage.

UPDATE

Click here to listen to the abbreviated forum.  The station's web site says the debate ended early "due to events out of control of WPTF or the school board candidates."

WSCA files pre-election campaign finance report

The Wake Schools Community Alliance has raised more than $20,000 so far in its bid to elect school board candidates who are critics of the current diversity policy.

The latest report from the group shows that it has raised $24,034.44 and had $10,740.06 left over as of Sept. 21. That money could be useful in the final weeks of the campaign and in any runoffs.

Wake school board candidate files pre-election campaign report

Debra Goldman's
school board campaign finance report is in but we're still waiting for several more.

According to an e-mail message from the state Board of Elections, the Wake Schools Community Alliance electronically transmitted a report late Monday afternoon. It hasn't been forwarded yet to the Wake County Board of Elections.

No updated reports are in yet from candidates Chris Malone or John Tedesco or the Take Wake Schools Back PAC. But as long as their updated reports were postmarked no later than Monday they're okay.

Called2Action announces Wake school board endorsements

Called2Action, a conservative Christian group, has announced its school board candidate endorsements.

The group says it's backing Chris Malone in District 1, John Tedesco in District 2, Deborah Prickett in District 7 and Debra Goldman in District 9. But will Called2Action's support scare off some voters as liberal groups will likely try to take shots at the endorsements?

Debating environmentally friendly Wake school board campaign signs

So who has more environmentally friendly campaign signs in the District 9 Wake school board race?

Is it Lois Nixon, a retired environmental educator, or Debra Goldman? It depends on who you ask.

Debating school funding in District 9

Does the school system need more money or should it just work with what it now gets?

That's a key dividing point in the District 9 school board race. Lois Nixon argues that Wake is underfunded while Debra Goldman says that's not the case.

Similar arguments are being made in the other school board races.

Campaign sign games

The non-WSCA school board candidates are complaining about the alleged tactics of their opponents.

Karen Simon's campaign says that their campaign signs on Lumley Road in Brier Creek were removed while those for Deborah Prickett remained. it's being called a case of "unsportsmanlike behavior."

Last week, Democratic political consultant Perry Woods said four Debra Goldman signs were put in County Commissioner Stan Norwalk's front yard while he was hosting an event for candidate Lois Nixon.

Children's PAC disbands, announces Wake school board endorsements

The official death notice of the Children's PAC has been sent.

As was previously blogged about, the Children's PAC is shutting down and joining forces with the Wake Schools Community Alliance. This includes endorsing the same slate of candidates as the WSCA - Chris Malone in District 1, John Tedesco in District 2, Deborah Prickett in District 7 and Debra Goldman in District 9.

Now the same slate of candidates is being backed by the Children's PAC, the WSCA, Take Wake Schools Back and the Wake County Republican Party.
