DURHAM - For a while, it looked as though Duke might fail to secure coach Mike Krzyzewski’s 904th win on the night it celebrated his 903rd career victory.
No. 6-ranked Duke trailed a well-prepared Davidson team by a point at halftime. But the Blue Devils used a strong start to the second half by Mason and Miles Plumlee to win 82-69 on Friday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
In a ceremony following the game, Krzyzewski thanked Tom Butters, the former Duke athletic director, for hiring him and believing in him when he struggled early in his career.
