"The Hasselhoffs": Cheesy, yes, but a little meat too

At this point, David Hasselhoff and cheesy are pretty synonymous and to the man's credit, he's embraced it. The Hoff goes with the flow.

As it turns out, the cheesiness in the new reality show "The Hasselhoffs" (A&E, 10 tonight), starring the Hoff and his two daughters, is mostly confined to dad's narration. The man's TV voice screams "ACTING!"

But between the Hoff's asides, there's a family story about a dad named David struggling at 57 to make back some of the money he's lost from mistakes (no specifics are given, but he freely admits to being an alcoholic) and trying to help and advise two daughters who want to follow in his showbiz footsteps. And you know, it was kind of sweet.

Dancing with the Stars: The world (minus Germany) has spoken

Our "So You Think You Can Dance" correspondent is back for another season of "Dancing with the Stars" recaps. Here's Lenni's take on last night's elimination (also, be sure to check out our photo gallery from Monday night's show):

It was elimination Tuesday featuring Carlos Santana alone, Daughtry alone, Carlos Santana and Daughtry, and Carlos Santana and India Arie.  Obviously, Carlos Santana plays well with others.

And now for the elimination.

It's been all over the media already but ... SPOILER AHEAD!

What to Watch on Friday: "Whale Wars" season finale

The Gulf is Back (8pm, CW) - David Hasselhoff hosts a tribute concert for residents of the Gulf Coast, featuring performances by Lonestar, Ricky Skaggs, Brian McKnight, Bo Bice, and Terri Clark. Filmed at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi.

Whale Wars (9pm, Animal Planet) - In part one of a two-part season finale, Bethune attempts a citizen's arrest of a Japanese whaling ship's captain. Meanwhile, the Bob Barker's reconstructed engine fails, leaving the crew stranded. In the second part of the finale, airing at 10pm, the Bob Barker's engine is repaired and the crew joins the Steve Irwin in the chase of a Japanese vessel in dense ice.

Haven (10pm, Syfy) - A local ghost story may be more than it seems as patients at a Haven clinic speak of a dark spirit that claims the lives of patients before their time.

Tonight, he visits Sri Lanka to participate in a ritual with men who were once believed to be half-human, half-demon.

Bristol Palin will be "Dancing with the Stars"

Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol Palin has reportedly signed on for the upcoming season of "Dancing with the Stars" --  a show which continues to bastardize the definition of the word "star."

According to E! Online, the 19-year-old has agreed to do the reality competition show, which begins on September 20. Also competing, according to E!, David Hasselhoff, Audrina Patridge ("The Hills"),  singer/actress Brandy, and The Situation ("Jersey Shore"). E! reports that Kirstie Alley and "Bachelorette" Ali Fedotowsky are so far not signed to the show.

Bristol Palin (pictured here with former fiance Levi Johnston) has also appeared in the ABC Family drama "The Secret Life of the American Teenager."

Latest actor to lather, rinse, repeat: Charles Shaughnessy

It's officially a trend. Accomplished (or at least famous: see Hasselhoff) actors are returning to their roots. Their soap roots.

David Hasselhoff did it, Julianne Moore did it. Now Charles Shaughnessy is doing it. Shaughnessy will return to his role as ISA agent Shane Donovan on "Days of Our Lives" in June for a 10-episode arc, which could revolve around the funeral of "Days" matriarch Alice Horton (Frances Reid, who died earlier this year). His character's long absence from the show is attributed to imprisonment in South America.

David Hasselhoff returning to "Young & the Restless"

David Hasselhoff is returning to the place where he got his start -- Genoa City.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Hasselhoff will return to "The Young & the Restless" this summer to reprise his role as Dr. William "Snapper" Foster, Jr. He was on the show from 1975 to 1982, when he left to star in "Knight Rider." Hasselhoff went on to launch "Baywatch" and was a judge on "America's Got Talent." On Y&R, Dr.  Snapper left Genoa City to accept a teaching fellowship in London.

The Hoff is currently slated to star in his own reality show, which will air this year on A&E. The show will give a behind-the-scenes look at Hasselhoff's life as he raises his daughters and helps one try to launch a singing career.

The new judge on "America's Got Talent"

If you haven't heard, David Hasselhoff has left NBC's hit, Simon Cowell-produced "America's Got Talent."

He says he's going to work on his own show.

Well, Life & Style Weekly says it knows who the new judge will be: Howie Mandel.

The "Deal or No Deal", the tabloid reports, host will join Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan for the fifth season.

What to Watch on Wednesday: The Hoff sings, plus Chris Brown on "Larry King"

North Carolina Rising (8pm, UNC-TV) - A special compilation show highlighting some of the economic successes of rural North Carolina featured in the UNC-TV series "North Carolina Now." Look for reports on preserving coastal towns, revitalizing small towns, building for eco-tourism, and much more.

Larry King Live (9pm, CNN) - Larry interviews Rihanna-beater Chris Brown, who appears with his mother and his lawyer Mark Garagos. Apparently, Brown at one point tells King that he shouldn't really talk about what happened that night (then why is he on there??) and then tells King he doesn't remember what happened, and later (after seeing CNN clips) says he does remember what happened but he misspoke. He also refers to the events of that evening as "a blur." So I'm not sure what we should expect to "learn" here, but if you like trainwrecks...

America's Got Talent (9pm, NBC) - Speaking of train wrecks, David Hasselhoff will be performing on tonight's show. He will be singing (and hopefuly dancing!) a song called "Feeling Good."

Glee (9pm, Fox) - Fox is wisely repeating the pilot for
this very nice musical-comedy-drama about a high school glee club from the creator of "Nip/Tuck" and "Popular." You can also watch online. The official premiere is September 9.
