ATLANTA — Courtney Fells watched all but 10 minutes of Wednesday's public practice by N.C. State from the bench with an icepack on his thigh.
Don't worry, State Fan, Fells will play on Thursday against Maryland. State practiced earlier on Wednesday, at Morehouse College, for two hours and Fells was fine.
If you didn't know N.C. State senior Courtney Fells was playing a new position Thursday night, you probably wouldn't have noticed a difference in his play.
Fells, who moved from shooting guard to small forward during the offseason, hammered home N.C. State's first dunk less than two minutes into the exhibition opener against Fort Valley State at Reynolds Coliseum.
A little more than three minutes later, Fells was open from 3-point range in the short corner for just a second. He drained the shot while being fouled, completed a four-point play and was on his way to a 21-point performance as N.C. State won 94-65.
