Want to Stop Hunger Now?

Clayton High School and Horne Memorial United Methodist Church are raising money to purchase food for a meal-packing event on March 26.

The church and school are also seeking volunteers for that event, which will get under way at 9 a.m. at the high school, 600 S. Fayetteville St., Clayton.

To help buy food, make a check payable to Horne Memorial Church and send it to Horne Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 475, Clayton, N.C. 27520. On the memo line, write Stop Hunger Now.

To volunteer, call JoAnn Brace at 359-2991.

Greater Neuse Wachovia standings

The N.C. High School Athletic Association accidentally omitted the Greater Neuse 4-A from its list of Wachovia Conference Cup standings on Monday. Clayton leads in the all-sports competition.

A dominant winter season, including a tie for first in
women’s basketball, a tie for second in men’s basketball, and a sweep of
the swimming championships keeps Clayton in first. Garner is now in second
after capturing a championship in men’s basketball and finishing second in
both men’s and women’s swimming. West Johnston holds its third-place
position with first-place finishes in wrestling and women’s swimming.
Conference Standings: Clayton 164, Garner 143, West Johnston 137.5, East
Wake 124.5, Southeast Raleigh 122, Knightdale 119, Smithfield-Selma 119, Harnett Central
102.
