New show: "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC
It's the days immediately after the battle of New York between aliens and superheroes that was the climax of "The Avengers" movie. Superheroes like Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor and Captain America are no longer in the shadows. So, Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), who we thought died in "The Avengers," is actually alive and assembling a team of very pretty non-superheroes to ... do something. I'll be darned if I can tell exactly what.
If you read the preceding paragraph and are yelling at me because I clearly don't understand all the intricacies of the Marvel comics timeline and universe, then congratulations. This show is made for you, and you're going to LOVE it. If you didn't care enough to see "The Avengers," then don't even try to watch this show. You'll HATE it. And if you're like what I suspect is the majority of us in between – enjoyed "The Avengers" but not quite ready to do a Marvel comics dissertation – you'll be conflicted about "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
