Raleigh crowns baseball champions

Champions have been determined in the Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department’s eight spring baseball leagues, which ran from March through June and ended with league tournaments.

More than 1,000 players ages 9-14 participated, Tyler Bolton-Fuhrman reported. About 500 players competed in the Mustang League (ages 9-10), 370 in the Bronco League (ages 11-12) and 180 in the Pony League (ages 13-14).

Bandits and Rockies celebrate City Championships in softball

The age 10-12 Bandits and the age 13-16 Rockies have won their Raleigh Parks and Recreation Girls Youth League City Championship titles.

After playing in 12 regular-season games, the champions competed in tournaments that involved teams representing each of the city's four athletic districts, said Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department intern Tyler Bolton-Fuhrman.

Pistons and Cavs win Raleigh youth basketball championships

Seventy teams competed, but only two went undefeated, and that's how
the Pistons and the Cavs won Raleigh Parks and Recreation boys
basketball championships.

The Junior League Pistons and the Little League Cavs capped undefeated
seasons by winning their divisions in the City of Raleigh Youth
Basketball Championships played March 17 at the Barwell Road Community
Center.

Twenty-eight Junior League teams and 42 Little League teams are divided
over four Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department districts, program
manager David Tugwell said.
