N.C. State falls to Georgetown in Charleston Classic final

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Georgetown's Hoyas blitzed N.C. State in the second half Sunday and won the Charleston Classic with a 82-67 victory against the Wolfpack at Carolina First Arena.

The 20th-ranked Hoyas (5-0) and Wolfpack (3-1) were tied 37-37 at halftime before Georgetown went on a 19-2 run in the second half that put the game away.

N.C. State tops George Mason, advances to Charleston Classic final

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- N.C. State used a withering second-half burst to put away George Mason 78-65 in the winners bracket semifinals of the Charleston Classic on Friday at Carolina First Arena.

The Wolfpack won despite playing without senior starting center Tracy Smith, who had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in Raleigh Friday and will miss three weeks.

The victory puts the Wolfpack (3-0) into Sunday's 7:30 p.m. championship game against No. 20 Georgetown, which beat Wofford 74-59 earlier Friday.

N.C. State beats ECU 85-65 in Charleston Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- N.C. State moved into the winners bracket of the Charleston Classic with a convincing 85-65 victory against East Carolina on Thursday at Carolina First Arena.

The Wolfpack (2-0) plays the winner of Thursday's late game between Charlotte and George Mason at 8:30 p.m. Friday. The Pirates (2-1) will face the 49ers-Patriots loser at 6 p.m.

Tough nonconference schedule shaping up for Pack

N.C. State will participate in the Charleston Classic in November
potentially adding more Big East flavor to its nonconference basketball

The Wolfpack is one of six teams confirmed for the
eight-team, made-for-ESPN tournament. Big East power Georgetown is one
of the other committed teams. The Wolfpack has also tentatively agreed
to play a road game at Syracuse in 2010-11.
