Thirteen area football players made one of the four NCpreps.com preseason football teams, with the most coming at the 4-A level.

The Green Hope girls and Chapel Hill boys cross country teams are each ranked No. 1 by NCrunners.com in their all-classifications preseason top 25.  See who else is ranked.

Chapel Hill's Peter Owens was the only Triangle-area player selected to the NCBCA 3-A all-state baseball team from this past season.

Ashley Clark of Panther Creek and Jamie Dell of Chapel Hill scored goals Saturday to help the North Carolina all-star girls and boys teams sweep the annual Clash of the Carolinas all-star soccer games.

Leesville Road, Ravenscroft and Cardinal Gibbons each land three players on the soccer coaches' all-state team.

East Chapel Hill plays at Leesville Road on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The NCHSAA baseball playoffs are set for the second round.
 

The third round of the NCHSAA girls soccer playoffs are set to begin Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, but weekend storms have kept two girls soccer games on the eastern half of the brackets from being completed until Monday night.

The NCHSAA boys dual-team tennis playoffs continue with the third round on Tuesday. The third round, regional finals and state championship will all be held next week.

The regional finals are scheduled for Thursday, with state championships taking place at school sites on Saturday. See the match-ups here.
