What to Watch on Monday: "DWTS" debut and Delaney on "Castle"

Dancing with the Stars (8pm, ABC) - The new cast is introduced tonight, along with their professional partners. The eleven couples perform either the Viennese Waltz or the cha-cha. That's Kate Gosselin on the left. Is she wearing a wig?

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Chuck's future as a spy rests on one final test mission in which he's called upon to terminate his target.

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - Ted wrecks Lily's birthday party by bringing the heiress to the Massengill fortune along as his date. That's right, Laura Prepon guest stars.

Law & Order (10pm, NBC) - Four cops are shot and by the time the case gets to trial, the police force is pitted against the prosecution.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - In part one of a two-parter, Beckett and Castle work with a federal agent to track down a crafty serial killer. Dana Delaney guest stars, making it reunion time with her "Desperate Housewives" husband Nathan Fillion (remember how they wasted him on that show??).

Nurse Jackie (10pm, Showtime) - The hilarious "Nurse Jackie" is back for Season Two. Read all about it. The second season of "The United States of Tara" (starring Toni Collette) follows at 10:30.

What to Watch on Monday: Chuck can't flash, but Castle is back.

Life Unexpected (8pm, CW) - In an effort to make sure we are never again able to watch this show, The CW moved it to Monday nights at 8pm, where people might also want to watch "House," or "Chuck," or "How I Met Your Mother" (all of which have new episodes this week, plus there's that crazy "Bachelor Wedding" on ABC).

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Speaking of Chuck, he loses his ability to "flash" and is banned from missions. Brandon Routh is still around as Agent Shaw.

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - The HIMYM guest star du jour is Jennifer Lopez.

The Bachelor: Jason and Molly's Wedding (8pm, ABC) - Gross.

Big Bang Theory (9:30pm, CBS) - The guys go to a garage sale and discover a friendship-threatening ring from "The Lord of the Rings" movie.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - A woman is found dead hanging from bondage cuffs and covered in caramel sauce. Sticky.

Damages (10pm, FX) - Finally, Ellen has to choose between her boss at the DA's office, and Patty Hewes.

What to Watch on Monday: A day in the life of Cuddy

House (8pm, Fox) - In this special all-about-Cuddy episode, Lisa Edelstein finally gets her chance to shine, and to show viewers there's more to her life than just being a hardass hospital administrator in low-cut blouses who takes too much crap from House. Actually, that is pretty much what her life is like (that, plus a hot younger boyfriend) but at least we get to see it all from her perspective, and not through the leering eyes of House.

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Agent Shaw (Brandon Routh) pairs Chuck with Hannah (Kristin Kreuk) so that he can team up with Sarah. Oooph! Also, Morgan and Ellie begin to snoop into Chuck's secret world.

Bachelor (8pm, ABC) - Jake is down to four women and tonight we get hometown visits.

Damages (10pm, FX) - Patty must keep a top Tobin witness from fleeing the country, and Ellen learns a dark family secret.

Kell on Earth (10pm, Bravo) - Kell pulls off a successful presentation for a new client, but Fashion Week is starting to rattle Stefanie.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - A popular former pro baseball player is murdered during a goodwill trip to Cuba, and Joe Torre (left) makes an appearance as himself (or as Beckett calls him, "Joe Freakin' Torre!").

What to Watch on Monday: Happy Slapsgiving, Barney

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - Marshall gives Ted and Robin one of his "slap bet" slaps to use on Barney (left), and Chris Elliot guest stars as Lily's estranged father, who visits on Thanksgiving.

Big Bang Theory (9:30pm, CBS) - This is always Monday night's other best bet after HIMYM,  and tonight's episode sounds great. Sheldon is humiliated on NPR's "Science Friday" show and vows revenge on Kripke. Ira Flatow makes a cameo appearance.

Find My Family (9:30, ABC) - ABC begins their "Locator" ripoff tonight with their new show about reuniting long-lost family members. Tonight's show features a Wisconsin couple searching for their daughter, given up for adoption 29 years earlier.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - Beckett and Castle find a dead man in a garbage chute and both is wife and fiance show up to claim the body. DB Woodhouse guest stars.

Chef Academy (11pm, Bravo) -  I wish this show came on a little earlier, but that's why God made DVRs. Tonight the students have to recreate a dessert demonstrated by Chef Novelli. Let's just hope our Charlotte student doesn't leave another hair in her dish. Ouch.

What to Watch on Monday: Too late to right a "Trauma" wrong?

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - Overly confident in his role as Robin's boyfriend, Barney starts giving relationship advice to Marshall, which ends in disaster.

Trauma (9pm, NBC) - A show so much better than its sister show "Mercy," "Trauma" was unfairly canceled last week by NBC, a network which seems to be giving up on dramas. (Maybe "Trauma" can move to cable like NBC's inexplicably canceled "Southland.") While "Trauma" isn't perfect, there's something great here every single week -- at least one moment in each show that stops you dead in your tracks. What will it be tonight? Nancy and Glenn (right) discover what it's like to be on the receiving end of emergency help, while Rabbit gets a big surprise on the job.

For the Love of Ray J 2 (9pm, VH1) - Hip hop singer Ray J gets a second season to try to find true love. Apparently the contestant he impregnated during the first season wasn't "the one."

Big Bang Theory (9:30pm, CBS) - Sheldon tries to teach Leonard the fundamentals of football, and Raj and Howard have a kite fight.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - A dead rock star is discovered staged in a scene from her own music video, and lyrics from one of her songs finally breaks the case open.

What to Watch on Monday: Castle goes vampire hunting

So You Think You Can Dance (8pm, Fox) - The top twenty dancers are introduced and two of them are local. Tune in tonight to meet Ariana (Wake Forest) and Noelle (Sanford). Both women dance at the CC & Co Dance Complex in Raleigh.

The Real Amelia Earhart (8pm, NGC) - National Geographic Channel presents a documentary on the disappearance of Ameila Earhart, who vanished somewhere over the Pacific in 1937.

Cake Boss (10pm, TLC) - Back-to-back episodes ring in season two tonight, as Buddy creates a cake in the shape of a ring box and considers hiring an assistant. Also, Cousin Anthony learns a thing or two about the dangerous job of cake delivery.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - Castle and Beckett (right) go vampire hunting as they investigate the death of a man found wearing vampire teeth with a stake through his heart. Also, there's a special treat for "Firefly" fans at the beginning of the episode.

What to Watch on Monday: James Earl Jones on "House"

House (8pm, Fox) - James Earl Jones plays an ailing African dictator charged with crimes against humanity who arrives at the hospital for treatment. Also, House gets involved in a feud between his new roomie Wilson and Wilson's neighbor.

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - Robin thinks Barney is cheating on her already, but really he's just getting info from Ted on how to be the most awesome boyfriend ever.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - A young model is savagely murdered, leading Castle and Beckett into the ruthless world of high fashion.

CSI: Miami (10pm, CBS) - Calleigh (Emily Proctor) has to testify against Delko, which endangers his CSI future. Cheryl Ladd guest stars.

What to Watch on Monday: Network premieres kick into high gear

House (8pm, Fox) - This could very well be the best 2 hours of television this week, if not this whole season. The "House" season 6 premiere picks up where season 5 left off: House is inside a mental institution recovering from his Vicodin addiction. The strong supporting cast tonight includes Andre Braugher as House's doctor, and Lin-Manuel Miranda as House's roomate. This is one you don't miss.

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - CBS is all new tonight, and their sitcoms get things off to a strong start. On HIMYM, the gang finds out that Barney and Robin are secretly dating, and Ted begins his teaching career at Columbia. A brand new (and widely trashed) sitcom starring Jenna Elfman ("Accidentally on Purpose") follows at 8:30. Then it's "Two and a Half Men" and "Big Bang Theory" at 9 and 9:30.

Heroes (8pm, NBC) - The fourth season premiere of "Heroes" is a two-hour event tonight. Claire gets some unwanted attention at college thanks to an odd death.

Dancing with the Stars (8pm, ABC) - Expect this to win the night. The 9th season opens with 16 contestants, more than in any other season. Some of the stars competing this season are Donny Osmond, Tom DeLay, Melissa Joan Hart, and Michael Irvin

CSI: Miami (10pm, CBS) - Season 8 begins tonight with Delko fighting for his life after being found unconscious in the Everglades at the end of last season. At some point, Horatio will dramatically remove his sunglasses and thoughtfully recall how the team came together during a case 12 years earlier, when Delko found a dead body in the trunk of a car.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - It will be so nice to see smart alecky Nathan Fillion again! In the 2nd season premiere of "Castle," Kate and Castle argue over his interference in her personal life, but put aside their differences to investigate a dead man found in a tree. Also, Castle has a book deadline looming.

Late Show with David Letterman (11:30, CBS) - President Barack Obama is Dave's guest tonight.
