What to Watch on Monday: Jennifer Grey in ratings battle with herself

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Casey is shadowed by his past when his former team returns and searches for him. Meanwhile, Chuck continues his quest to find his  mother, and Morgan tries to summon the courage to disclose a delicate secret to Casey. Guest stars include Eric Roberts and Dave Batista.

House (8pm, Fox) - The mother (Jennifer Grey) of a newborn with breathing difficulties and liver failure must make a very difficult decision that could affect her own health as well as her baby's. Also, Cuddy asks House to babysit her daughter, and he and Wilson learn a parenting lesson in the process. Grey is also on "Dancing with the Stars" on ABC, which competes with this show in the same timeslot.

The Event (9pm, NBC) - They said Hal Holbrook would be on last week and he wasn't (just his voice on the phone at the end) so I have trust issues now with this show.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - An extra body found in a casket during a funeral leads Beckett and Castle to investigate the love affairs of doctors at a local hospital. Also, Castle's girlfriend (who is also one of his ex-wives) tries to bond with Alexis.

Hawaii Five-0 (10pm, CBS) - The teen daughter of a US ambassador to the Philippines is murdered and her body is found off the Waikiki coast. Her sister is then kidnapped and it's the Five-0's mission to find her.

Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It (10pm, VH1) - In the opener of this new reality series, rocker Bret Micahels balances family life and being a touring performer, hitting the road for the first time since his brain hemorrhage.

What to Watch on Monday: Hal Holbrook shakes up "The Event"

House (8pm, Fox) - House and Cuddy must reexamine their relationship after a visit from House's massage therapist.

The Event (9pm, NBC) - To stop a biological threat, authorities must break Sophia during interrogations. And Hal Holbrook (right) comes onboard tonight as a villainous businessman with knowledge of classified intelligence who butts heads with the President. You know what's hard? Trying to find a picture of Hal Holbrook looking sinister.

Reviving Ophelia (9pm, Lifetime) - A new movie about two sisters (Jane Kaczmarek and Kim Dickens) who support each other as they raise very different teenage daughters, one of whom is in an abusive relationship. Based on the novel by Mary Pipher. Adrienne's review.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - Castle suggest "time travel" as a possible element in the murder of a mathematician shot by a 200-year-old bullet.

Weeds (10pm, Showtime) - The Botwins borrow a page from "Breaking Bad" and move their drug business into an RV, which they park at an old movie set that once depicted a frontier town.

The Big C (10:30pm, Showtime) - Lenny asks Cathy to accompany him to an art opening in the Bahamas, but Paul has planned a surprise party for her and has invited her eccentric college friend, played by Cynthia Nixon.

What to Watch on Monday: "Lie to Me" season makes early return

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - Barney offers Ted a job designing a building, but when Ted turns him down, Barney uses all of his wooing skills to change his mind. Also, unfortunately, a lonely Robin drunk-dials Don.

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Chuck and Sarah's villainous nemeses, played by Stone Cold Steve Austin and Nicole Richie, return with more trouble. Meanwhile, Morgan preps the Buy More for a big video game release.

Lie to Me (9pm, Fox) - The third season of "Lie to Me" returns early thanks to the early demise of "Lone Star." Tonight, Tim tries to stop a man bent on revenge from robbing a bank and in the process, holds a guilty man accountable for his actions.

Scare Tactics (9pm, Syfy) - Season 4 opens with pranks involving a caterer, a lottery winner, and mutilated livestock. Also, an eviction takes a sinister turn.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta (9pm, Bravo) - In the third season premiere, rumors are causing trouble for everyone and new housewives are added to the cast: Phaedra Parks and Cynthia Bailey.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - Encoded evidence during an investigation sparks Castle's imagination but Beckett dismisses his crazy theories. Also, Beckett's reunion with her old partner turns romantic, much to Castle's chagrin.

What to Watch on Monday: Can we save "Lone Star?"

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - When Barney helps his mother move out of her home he finally  learns the truth about his father. Frances Conroy ("Six Feet Under") guest stars as Barney's mother and Wayne Brady returns as Barney's brother. Ben Vereen guest stars as "Sam."

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Chuck and Sarah go undercover at Fashion Week in Milan to seize a high tech weapon, and Chuck discovers a flaw in his relationship with Sarah. Lou Ferrigno guest stars.

Lone Star (9pm, Fox) - If ratings don't improve, this could be the last episode of the critically acclaimed "Lone Star," and that would be a Texas-sized shame. Please watch! Bob (James Wolk, left) recruits his dad to help with the wind farm project, and Lindsey begins to suspect that she doesn't know her new husband as well as she thought.

The Event (9pm, NBC) - We get some answers tonight. The  president's men scramble to figure out what happened with the plane and the conspiracy's web snares an FBI agent and a mercenary played by D.B. Sweeney.

Top Gear (9pm, BBC America) - In the new season premiere, James tries to drive up the side of an active volcano in a Toyota Hilux. Also, test driving a Bentley Continental.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - Castle and Beckett hunt for a psychic's murder while debating the validity of her profession.

Hawaii Five-0 (10pm, CBS) - A former cyber-terrorism expert is kidnapped and the Five-0 try to rescue him before there's a breach in national security.

The Buried Life (10:30, MTV) - In the second season opener the guys head to a Kansas City Wizards game, where they will attempt to streak across the field without getting caught.

What to Watch on Monday: Gear up for a packed fall premiere week

Tonight marks the beginning of a super-crazy-insane week of television premieres. So get an extra DVR, call in sick for work, do whatever you have to do. Here we go...

Dancing with the Stars (8pm, ABC) - The new season begins tonight and the twelve couples will either perform the Viennese Waltz or the cha-cha.

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Season 4 begins with me weeping for Scott Bakula and Chuck looking for his mother, who is played by Linda Hamilton. Meanwhile, Sarah and Casey travel to Russia to probe a mysterious organization and its operative (Dolph Lundgren). Also, Ellie breaks big news to the family. Olivia Munn and Harry Dean Stanton also guest star.

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - Season 6 opens and we all pray it's better than last season. Tonight, Ted runs into Cindy (Rachel Bilson), whom he dated briefly, and who is also the roommate of his future wife. Also, Robin has trouble getting over Don and Marshall can't stop talking about starting a family.

Rules of Engagement (8:30pm, CBS) - Season 5 begins. Apart from the fact that Jaime Pressly is back, there's not too much to say about it. In other yawn-inducing news, "Two and a Half Men" begins their 8th season at 9pm. In that premiere, Charlie thinks it's time he cut back on his drinking. Insert your own joke.

House (8pm, Fox) - The seventh season premiere is a Huddy lovefest. House and Cuddy are holed up in his apartment exploring their feelings for each other while House keeps Cuddy from finding out about a crisis at the hospital. More about Huddy love here.

What to Watch on Monday: "House" and "Castle" finales

House (8pm, Fox) - In tonight's season finale, House's sobriety is on the line after struggling to save a woman crushed under a fallen construction crane.

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Scott Bakula is back as Chuck's father, who discovers that a new more sophisticated Intersect has been uploaded into Chuck's head. (Not a finale).

Law & Order (9pm, NBC) - Two straight hours of "Law & Order" tonight (it's like NBC can't wait to get rid of the newly-canceled veteran). In the first case, a victim dies from stab wounds and the investigation unveils an exploited family. In the second case, a TV crew from a fashion makeover show find a dead man locked in a dog cage, and the  man's wife becomes the prime suspect. The "Law & Order" series finale airs next week. 

Big Bang Theory (9:30, CBS) - Leonard tells Penny the story of how he met Sheldon. 

Castle (10pm, ABC) -  Inn the second season finale, Castle and Beckett investigate the assassination of a covert agent and deal with their feelings for each other. Unfortunately, Detective Demming is still in the picture. 

Other finales ... One Tree Hill (8pm, CW) ends season 7 and Gossip Girl (9pm, CW) ends season 3.  

What to Watch on Monday: Chuck cracks

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Chuck (Zachary Levi, left) has alarming nightmares that indicate perhaps the intersect in his brain is malfunctioning. Or maybe he's crazy. General Beckman orders Chuck to see a CIA psychologist (Christopher Lloyd). Also, Anna returns to the Buy More and reaches out to Morgan. 

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - The gang crashes an upscale Manhattan party attended by prominent intellectuals and Ted shows off his brainy side. Arianna Huffington, Peter Bogdanovich, and New York Times crossword puzzle editor Will Shortz have cameos.

House (8pm, Fox) - Andre Braugher returns as the psychologist who treated House when he was committed to rehab, and House tells him about a patient who showed up at the hospital with an unknown illness and no memory of who she is.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - Castle and Det. Demming vie for Beckett's attention (and affection) while they try to solve a robbery-homicide case.

Nurse Jackie (10pm, Showtime) - When Fiona shows up at school with a cast on her arm and stitches on her mouth, her teacher becomes suspicious and questions Jackie (Edie Falco, right). Also, Harvey Fierstein stars as a man who has a hard time letting go of his dying husband. 

What to Watch on Monday: Hugh Laurie directs tonight's "House"

House (8pm, Fox) - In a Hugh Laurie-directed episode, the hospital goes on lockdown after a newborn goes missing from the nursery, giving House and his trapped staff  time to reflect on their past, relationships, and regrets. 

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - CBS comedies are back with new episodes tonight, and on HIMYM, Marshall gets mugged and tries to convince Lily that they don't need to buy a gun.

24 (9pm, Fox) - Gregory Itzin returns as President Charles Logan (guess he didn't die from that stab wound after all...) and insinuates himself into President Taylor's peace negotiations. 

Big Bang Theory (9:30pm, CBS) - Sheldon's enemy Will Wheaton returns (as himself) to challenge Sheldon to a bowling match. Leonard and Penny have an argument that threatens their relationship.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - "Dancing with the Stars" host Tom Bergeron guest stars as a talk show hosts who dies hours after warning Castle about his impending fate. Castle must then convince Beckett that the host's death wasn't from natural causes.

What to Watch Monday: A mummy's curse and NCAA champs

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - The spies regroup after learning it was a villainous operative responsible for the death of Shaw's wife, not Sarah. They set out to find the evildoer, but Chuck worries over Shaw's mental state.

Life Unexpected (8pm, The CW) - Cate, Baze, and Lux go on a road trip to track down Cate's long lost father (Peter Horton). 

NCAA Basketball Championship (9pm, CBS) - It's the championship game between our hometown ACC champs Duke and the home court-advantaged Butler bulldogs. Can Duke do it?!

Castle (10pm, ABC) - While investigating the death of a museum curator believed to have been the victim of a mummy's curse, Castle (Nathan Fillion, left) channels Indiana Jones and peeks at forbidden artifacts, then worries he too will fall prey to the curse. 

Damages (10pm, FX) - Patty's star witness (Tobin's illegitimate daughter) is arrested, forcing Patty to make an unusual deal with the DA or else be removed as the lawyer for Tobin's victims. Also, Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson) shoots his mouth off and reveals a little too much about his past. 

Nurse Jackie (10pm, Showtime) - Dr. Cooper is named one of the Top 25 doctors in New York City by New York magazine, and Grace's obnoxious friend walks in on Jackie snorting drugs.

What to Watch on Monday: Conclusion to Castle's big boom

Life Unexpected (8pm, The CW) - Trapped at the radio station with Ryan during a storm, Lux opens up about her childhood in foster care. Also trapped - Cate with Baze, at the bar.

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Chuck has passed all of his tests and is officially a spy, so he gets his  pick of superspy partners for an undercover mission. His pick? Sarah. Casey, Morgan, and Awesome team up to help Chuck get her back. 

Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives (10pm, Food) - Among other more appealing-sounding stops, they check out a place in Charlotte that serves boiled turkey.

Kell on Earth (10pm, Bravo) - In the season 1 finale, Kelly goes to LA to meet with her top gun clients. Back in New York, she focuses on a fundraiser for a breast cancer charity.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - In the conclusion to last week's "Boom!" cliffhanger, we'll learn if Beckett survived the explosion in her apartment (or rather, we'll learn how they'll explain Beckett's survival of the explosion in her apartment). Dana Delaney guest stars.

Nurse Jackie (10pm, Showtime) - Jackie and Coop continue to clash, and Jackie jumps the gun and sends an ill child home with the wrong diagnosis. Dr. O'Hara goes on a booze-and-pill binge after the death of her mother. 

The United States of Tara (10:30pm, Showtime) - Tara's doormat alters are itching to make a comeback.
