The Amazing Race: Jeff picks on Jordan and Grandma plays favorites

Things were a little slow this week, but we got a little more insight into Jeff & Jordan's relationship.

Jeff seems to spend a lot of time pointing out our girl Jordan's, shall we say, lack of worldliness.

Jeff, as a boyfriend, that's not cool. Leave that to us bloggers!

How to watch CBS shows pre-empted by tonight's State-Carolina game

WRAL will show the State-Carolina basketball game tonight at 9pm, which means a new episode of "NCIS: Los Angeles" and a repeat of "The Good Wife" will be pre-empted.

The station is airing the shows at 2:12am and 3:12am, but because the game could (and likely will) go a bit late, they advise you to set your recorders for 2am - 5am.

You can also usually watch online the day after episodes air.

How I Met Your Mother: Reachers and Settlers

Monday night's "How I Met Your Mother" offered some helpful, albeit obvious, relationship advice for married men.

If your new work buddy is a woman, immediately correct your wife if she automatically assumes said work buddy is a guy. And definitely don't let that misconception linger if said work buddy is Amanda Peet hot.

For the first episode in several weeks, Neil Patrick Harris doesn't overshadow his fellow cast members with Barney's over-the-top exploits, giving the rest of the cast a chance to carry the show.

No more Broadway song-and-dance finales here for Barney, as in last week's episode, but was anyone really looking for one? One "Glee" is enough.

Ed Mitchell tailgates on "The Early Show" Friday

The Pit's Ed Mitchell will appear on "The Early Show" tomorrow morning to show America how to properly prepare Carolina-style ribs.

Mitchell will be featured in a segment on tailgating in advance of CBS's big Super Bowl Sunday coverage.

Kevin Roberts and Elizabeth Karmel are also included in the segment. Roberts is making buffalo wings, of course, and Karmel will make her famous chili.

Mitchell is a well-known local pitmaster who has appeared on NBC's "Today Show" and whupped up on Bobby Flay on the Food Network's "Throwdown! with Bobby Flay."

"The Early Show" airs on CBS (WRAL) beginning at 7am. The tailgating segment is expected to air between 8:30am and 9am, but you never know what will happen, so you should tape the whole show.

How I Met Your Mother recap: Girls vs. Suits

A hundred episodes into "How I Met Your Mother," and we're finally granted a glimpse of the mother of Ted's future children. A glimpse of her foot, that is, as she exits stage left. (You're such a tease, Ted.)

More importantly, though, the show marked the 100-episode milestone Monday night with the cameo trifecta of Tim Gunn, Rachel Bilson and Stacey Keibler's legs, as well as Barney's song-and-dance tribute to his closet of tailored, Italian suits.

Note to fans of "500 Days of Summer": consider Neil Patrick Harris' Broadway-style extravaganza a superior version of Joseph Gordon-Levitt's overly celebrated "I just got lucky with Zooey Deschanel" dance number in that movie. I love Hall and Oates revivals as much as the next child of the 1980s, but Harris is the true song-and-dance man.

Highlights from the 2009 "Kennedy Center Honors"

The Kennedy Center Honors broadcast is always one of the best shows of the year. On Tuesday night we saw tributes to Robert Deniro, Bruce Springsteen, Mel Brooks, Dave Brubeck, and Grace Bumbry.

All of the tributes were fantastic, but my favorite moment was Jon Stewart's introduction of The Boss. Perfection. You can watch a little bit of that intro below (it's a shame the entire segment isn't available). Also interesting is this feature on Springsteen's induction and an interview with CBS's Julie Chen (here's the second part of that interview).

How I Met Your Mother recap: Last cigarette

If the Marlboro Man hadn't died of lung cancer, Robin could have been his soulmate in cigarettes.

As we learned in Monday's episode of "How I Met Your Mother," the aspiring anchorwoman from Canada loves to light up a cigarette while she's brushing her teeth, enjoying a nutritious breakfast of oatmeal or getting all bendy with her yoga poses. We also learned that in the year 2030, nothing rocks future Ted's kids' world more than learning that "Aunt" Robin and the rest of the gang — including Dad — used to smoke.

The anti-smoking campaign must have really hit home with future Ted's offspring, because Cindy Brady didn't freak out as much when she saw her stepbrother Greg lighting up before class.

CBS cancels "As the World Turns"

CBS announced today that it is ending the soap opera "As the World Turns" after 54 years and more than 13,000 episodes.

The soap, set in the fictional town of Oakdale, Illinois, premiered in April of 1956. Its last episodes will air in September of 2010.

Earlier this year, the network canceled "Guiding Light," which had been on either TV or radio for 72 years.

Actresses Meg Ryan, Julianne Moore, Parker Posey, and Marisa Tomei all got their starts on "As the World Turns," which has won four 'Outstanding Drama' Daytime Emmy Awards.

Canceled: TNT axes "Raising the Bar," CBS pulls "Three Rivers"

TNT has canceled Steven Bochco's legal drama "Raising the Bar" after two seasons. The announcement from the network stated that the show's second season didn't attract the ratings needed to justify renewal.

"Raising the Bar" starred Mark-Paul Gosselaar (right), Gloria Reuben and Jane Kaczmarek. TNT is expected to make a decision on another bubble show, "Dark Blue," soon.

TNT recently picked up "Southland," an acclaimed cop drama canceled by NBC.

Meanwhile, CBS has pulled but hasn't officially canceled its new medical drama "Three Rivers" effective immediately. The show, about an organ transplant team in a Pittsburgh hospital, starred the popular Alex O'Louglin (left). It averaged about 8.2 million viewers since its September debut, but those numbers have been declining even with strong lead-ins from "Amazing Race,"

The Sunday night time slot will be filled with episodes of "Cold Case" and special CBS programming.

"Three Rivers" is expected to finish production on its original 13-episode order, but there's no word on when or if those shows will be broadcast.

The Amazing Race: A five-letter word spells elimination

Two moments of clarity.

1) So happy for a solid education that would allow me to look at these five letters:

Z N F A R

and be able to see F R A N Z -- even without having trotted around the globe.

2) It's Dan. Dan is the gay brother to hate.
