Three area basketball players hit scoring milestones on Tuesday night.
Cary Christian's Amy Van Deventer scored her 1,000th career point in a 55-40 win against Halifax Academy. She entered the contest only needing five points to break 1,000 and scored 22.
Corinth Holders' Kenny Collins only needed 13 to become the first player in school history to score 1,000 career points. He had 27 in a 58-49 win against North Johnston.
Bunn's Whitney Bunn surpassed the 1,500-point mark in a 44-30 win against Warren County, scoring 10 points to give her 1,503.
Girls basketball teams play this Friday with a chance to advance to next week's regionals. Two area Cinderellas are still alive: 12-seed Cary and 11-seed Sanderson, who play at 1-Millbrook and 7-Southern Durham, respectively.
Hillside at Green Hope, a rematch from a second-round thriller from last year, highlights the area games as the two sides are a combined 49-5 this year.
Chapel Hill, Northwood, Jordan-Matthews and Goldsboro are at home in their quests to make regionals, while Bunn and Southern Lee are on the road.
