Northern Carolina 2A Conference volleyball tournament schedule

The Northern Carolina 2A Conference volleyball tournament begins today with action at four sites. Bunn will be the league's No. 1 state playoff seed and Franklinton, North Johnston, Corinth Holders and Roanoke Rapids will advance to the playoffs, barring a tournament win by Louisburg, Warren County or Northwest Halifax. Northeastern 35, Bunn 7

ELIZABETH CITY – Despite a rich history that includes eight campaigns with a double-digit victory total, the Northeastern Eagles have never been able to reach the fourth round of the postseason.

Until this year.

The Eagles, playing at home, used a balanced offensive attack to defeat Bunn by a 35-7 margin Friday to advance into the fourth round -- and the semifinals -- of the Class 2-AA State Playoffs.

Bunn 27, Kinston 7

BUNN - Bunn coach Chris Miller was a little disappointed his team led by just seven at halftime, but the way the Wildcats defense was playing that was a huge lead as the Wildcats advanced to the third round of the NCHSAA 2-AA football playoffs with a 27-7 win over Kinston.

Bunn (11-2) will travel to Northeastern next week.

Bunn 27, North Johnston 13

Andre' Davis lines up at quarterback now for Bunn, but that's not his real position, Wildcat coach Chris Miller says.

Davis proved his coach right Friday night in Bunn's 27-13 victory over previously unbeaten North Johnston.

Bunn football looks strong

Bunn's football program has 20 seniors in the program this season. Three four-year starters — Penn State football center recruit Ty Howle, linebacker/ tight end Jake Winstead, and quarterback Levon Stanley — played big roles in last year's 9-3 season.

Winstead notched more than 100 tackles in 2007.

Coach David Howle has eight starters back on offense and six back on defense
