Former Broughton and Sanderson High boys basketball coach Ed McLean died on Wednesday. He was an assistant coach on N.C. State's 1983 NCAA championship team.

Broughton, Fuquay players win NCHSAA Awards

Fuquay-Varina baseball pitcher Craig Mitchell and Broughton girls basketball player Emily Newton are among three athletes who will be honored next week with the  North Carolina High School Athletic Association's  A.J. “Tony” Simeon Courage Award.

Falcons pass Leesville in girls soccer rankings

Green Hope has surpassed Leesville Road as the top-ranked 4-A girls soccer team in the state. The move comes after Green Hope's 3-2 overtime win over Apex (a team that Leesville tied 0-0).

Cardinal Gibbons is still the top-ranked 3-A team in the state.
