As Raleigh readies for this weekend's inaugural activities, here's a look at the Governor's Inaugural Ball to honor incoming Governor Dan K. Moore in 1965.

Mrs. Moore, dressed in a formal gown of white French brocade ... visited with friends. The dress was accented with fuschia rosettes and a back panel.
Mrs. Moore purchased her gown from Ellisburg's Inc. -- a move that gives not only this store but Raleigh's other fine fashion shops a shot in the arm.
"It had to be a dress we knew positively no one else would have," said Mrs. Mortimer Ellisberg. "So, we had this one designed especially for her." -- The Raleigh Times 1/8/1965

Incoming Lt. Governor Bob Scott escorted his family, including children (l-r) Susie, Mary, Kerr, and Meg.
