A Black Friday weekend GIVEAWAY....3 readers will win a CiCi's buffet for two!

It's Friday, but not just any old Friday, so let's celebrate with a giveaway.

I've got six FREE CiCi's Pizza buffets up for grabs. Three winners will each win passes for two free buffets.

To enter, simply leave me a comment about your Black Friday weekend exploits.

I'd love to hear about the bargains you scored, but don't feel limited to your tales of shopping. Also feel free to tell me about a family outing to choose your Christmas tree, a donation you made to charity or what you're selling on craigslist to make money for the holidays.

If you slept in, watched movies or put out holiday decorations, I want to hear about that, too. Just PLEASE don't tell me you paid full price for anything!

I'll pick three winners at noon on Monday.

If you want to check for your nearest CiCi's Pizza location, go here.

If you're already a CiCi's fan, you may want to consider signing up for its Pizza Perks program, which I wrote about here.

CiCi's has also joined a growing list of restaurants offering gift card deals for the holidays. When you buy $20 in CiCi's gift cards, you get a FREE buffet. Not bad.

Walgreens launching mobile coupons on Black Friday

Just in time for Black Friday, Walgreens is debuting a mobile coupon program for customers with smart phones.

The pharmacy chain, with more than 7,700 stores across the country, is adding the scannable coupons to its mobile app.

Prepping for Black Friday update

As I mentioned in a post earlier this week, you have to do your homework to shop smart on Black Friday.

And that includes keeping up with the latest news on Black Friday, which changes daily as retailers begin to release their ads or embargoed ads are leaked to websites.

As of this weekend, the big news on Black Friday websites is that most Toys R Us locations will open at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving, an hour before previously expected and the earliest the toy retailer has ever opened for the kick-off of the traditional holiday shopping season.

And just to recap, here are a few Black Friday websites to help you strategize your holiday shopping:

  • BFads.net (note the web address....it's .NET, not .com!)
  • BlackFriday.info
  • TGIBlackFriday.com
  • FatWallet.com

Prepping for Black Friday

The countdown to Black Friday has begun.

In just two short weeks, the traditional kick-off to the holiday shopping season begins.

But in reality, if you want to be successful in scoring the best deals that day, you've got to start doing your homework now.

Here are a few Black Friday websites to get you started:

Updated: Black Friday for night owls

It's beginning to look like you won't need to get up early for Black Friday sales this year. You'll simply have to stay up late to cash in on deals during the first official day of the holiday shopping season.

Macy's announced Monday it will open its doors at midnight Black Friday, the first time ever for the retailer. And now Kohl's has joined in and will also open at midnight.

Target to open at stroke of midnight Black Friday

Target announced today it will open at midnight on Black Friday, the earliest ever for the discount retailer.

The store's hours on Black Friday -- the traditional start of the holiday shopping season -- will be midnight to 11 p.m.

So if Target is on your Black Friday list of places to shop, you can forget a good night's sleep before tackling the shopping list.

By the time you fix Thanksgiving dinner, get the kitchen cleaned up, take a walk and watch a little football, you'll have precious little time to get to the store.

By the way, Black Friday falls on Nov. 25 this year.

Black Friday comes early this year

Just a reminder: It's Black Friday in July if you shop Target today. The specials are good online only.

This is an idea that caught on with some stores last year and must have worked for Target to repeat it this year.

So far I've seen a KitchenAid mixer discounted 20 percent, making it $199, and a 19-inch Vizio TV for $99.99. Neither, of which, would have made me get out of bed and fire up the computer in the middle of the night. The $89.99 Kodak EasyShare camera, however, sounds pretty good.

If you score some good deals, please share.

Black Friday comes early this year

Target is uttering those two little words that bargain hunters love to hear: Black Friday. Only they're not going to make you wait until November.

I — and I'm sure amost every other Target shopper — received an e-mail this afternoon promoting its "Black Friday in July" sale.

This is an idea that caught on with some stores last year and must have worked for Target to be repeating it this year.

The sale starts at midnight this Friday (Pacific time according to the email I received so make that 3 a.m. here) and is online only. So set your clock and put the laptop near the bed — and make sure you're awake enough to recognize a good deal from hype.

From the sneak peek in the email it looks as if they'll discount a Philips TV by $250, Barbie by 40 percent and a KitchenAid mixer by 20 percent.

Let us know if you score some good deals.
