What to Watch on Monday: Connick and Marsalis trace roots

Alcatraz (8pm, Fox) - Two new back-to-back episodes close out the season tonight. In the episodes, Rebecca and Doc close in on a man who may be the key to understanding why the criminals are returning, and a discovery is made beneath the halls of the prison.

Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr. (9pm, UNC-TV) - Historian Henry Louis Gates Jr. helps two New Orleans natives -- Harry Connick Jr. and Branford Marsalis (who currently lives in Durham) -- trace their roots. In a second episode airing at 10, Newark, N.J., mayor Cory Booker and Georgia representative John Lewis are researched.

Being Human (9pm, Syfy) - Sally tries to fix a life that she ruined and Josh must choose between Nora and Julia.

Smash (10pm, NBC) - Derek plots to steal the musical and he wants Karen to assist him. Meanwhile, Eileen's daughter makes a surprise visit home and Ivy is uncertain about her future.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - Five people are killed in a bomb explosion at a protest rally, and Castle and Beckett try to uncover who planted the deadly device by focusing on the crucial seconds prior to the blast.

Brooklyn 11223 (11pm, Oxygen) - A new reality show built around a three-year feud between three best friends over whether one of the women had sex with her friend's then-boyfriend. Read Adrienne's review.

What to Watch on Monday: James Caan guests on 'Hawaii Five-O'

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - Robin moves to the suburbs with Lily and Marshall and Ted wonders what to do with her empty room. Meanwhile, Barney decides to court a stripper.

*House (8pm, Fox) - House's mother (Diane Baker) shows up with news about a new man in her life.

Being Human (9pm, Syfy) - Josh reaches out to Nora and Sally finds out who has been haunting her. Meanwhile, Aiden is targeted by werewolf twins.

*Alcatraz (9pm, Fox) - An innocent man from Alcatraz resurfaces to commit crimes.

Hawaii Five-0 (10pm, CBS) - A famous talk-radio DJ is murdered and the investigation brings Five-0 in contact with a retired NYPD bomb expert (at James Caan, right with son Scott Caan) with ties to the victim.

Smash (10pm, NBC) - Derek hosts a party for a popular young star, reminding Karen she must propel her career. Meanwhile, Eileen tests a crafty way to secure funds and Tom dates someone new.

Lost Girl (10pm, Syfy) - Kenzi inadvertently brings home a vicious Fae spider that can make people psychotic after she performs a spiritual cleansing of a house.  

Fashion Police (10pm, E!) -  A review of last night's 2012 Academy Awards show fashions.

*Rescheduling of Daytona 500 will likely preempt "House" and "Alcatraz" tonight, but it's not 100% certain yet.

What to Watch on Monday: NC's 'Bachelor' women play ball in Puerto Rico

The Bachelor (8pm, ABC) - The eleven remaining women (including Emily O'Brien from Chapel Hill and Blakeley Shea from Charlotte) travel to Puerto Rico where nine of them play baseball. Blakeley is pictured here with Ben Flajnik. Also, one woman has Ben to herself for a tour of Old San Juan and another goes yachting. And there's taunting from one of the women. Or, I should say, more taunting.

House (8pm, Fox) - A teen Jane Doe needs surgery that requires adult consent. House and Adams debate whether to call Social Services until her mother shows up. Also, House threatens to exploit Foreman's relationship with a married woman.

Pretty Little Liars (8pm, ABC Family) - Hanna believes her pals are acting chilly toward her because of her stance on Caleb. Meanwhile, Emily has high hopes for her mom's visit to town.

Alcatraz (9pm, Fox) - A bank robber from the past causes mayhem in the present and puts Rebecca in a difficult position.

Cake Boss: Next Great Baker (9pm, TLC) - In the Season 2 finale, Marissa, Nadine and Ryan battle for the top spot, which includes a $100,000 prize, a feature in Brides magazine and a chance to work at Carlo's Bakery.

Being Human (9pm, Syfy) - Aidan goes on a date with a human while he is cut off from his blood supply. Also, Sally delves into reincarnation and Josh and Nora get ready for their second change together.

What to Watch on Monday: Local women still in the 'Bachelor' battle

Gossip Girl (8pm, CW) - Amy Heckerling directs this episode in which Blair has a bachelorette party and Nate gets more information on Blair and Chuck's car wreck.

The Bachelor (8pm, ABC) - Chapel Hill and Charlotte ladies are still in the fight! Tonight the gang goes to Park City, Utah, for some outdoor activities (Charlotte's Blakeley Shea pictured here on the far left) -- and lots of drinking and crying, of course.

Antiques Roadshow (8pm, UNC-TV) - The show starts a three-episode run in Eugene, Oregon, with a Ty Cobb-autographed memorabilia, an original "Rosemary's Baby" drawing by art designer Clem Hall, and a 1919 oil painting by Norman Rockwell valued at half a million dollars.

Alcatraz (9pm, Fox) - On the loose tonight: a child killer, who would kidnap his victims and return their bodies to their homes.

Being Human (9pm, Syfy) - Sally wields new powers thanks to some new ghost friends and Josh tries to deal with a change (to say the least!) in his relationship with Nora.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - A popular reality TV star becomes a murder suspect when a well-known dog trainer turns up dead.

What to Watch on Monday: Betty White's birthday and new series debuts

Betty White's 90th Birthday: A Tribute to America's Golden Girl (8pm, NBC) - Stars salute Betty White as she celebrates her 90th birthday. The tribute, which was taped on January 9, includes music performances and remarks from White, who shares memories and offers her thanks. Some of the guests offering their regards are Mary Tyler Moore, Carol Burnett, Carl Reiner, Amy Poehler, Ed Asner, and Gavin McLeod.

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - Lily and Marshall move to the suburbs and the rest of the gang deal with their departure by hitting a strip club.

Alcatraz (8pm, Fox) - The 2-hour opener of a new drama in which prisoners who mysteriously vanished decades ago from Alcatraz prison reappear in the present. Tonight, a task force comes together when a sniper starts targeting young victims. It's good! WATCH IT! My longer review.

The Bachelor (8pm, ABC) - Ben returns to his other hometown, San Francisco, with the 16 remaining girls and goes skiing with 11 of them. The big event tonight is the cocktail party crasher -- Ben's former girlfriend who wants to join the competition. The other girls are not amused. There's a lot of crying.

Being Human (9pm, Syfy) - In the Season 2 premiere, a vampire power vacuum weighs on Aidan, Sally's powers grow stronger, and Josh and Nora try to live "normal" lives.

Betty White's Off Their Rockers (9:30pm, NBC) - A sneak peek at the hidden-camera comedy series featuring Betty White and a group of seniors pulling pranks on unsuspecting folks. It's "Punk'd" for the blue-hair set.

Lost Girl (10pm, Syfy) - The debut of a new supernatural drama about a seemingly ordinary girl who suddenly finds out  she's a succubus.

What to Watch on Monday: Two great marathons and Rudolph saves the New Year

Independence Bowl: UNC vs. Missouri (5pm, ESPN2) - Tar Heel post-season football live from Shreveport. It'll be coach Everett Withers' last hoorah in Carolina blue. Tune in!

Being Human (Noon, Syfy) - A marathon of the first season of Syfy's series about a vampire and a werewolf who try to live like humans, and move into a townhouse haunted by the ghost of the landlord's dead fiance. Highly recommended.

Awkward. (5pm, MTV) - A marathon of MTV's excellent sitcom about an ordinary teenager (Ashley Rickards) who is thrust into the spotlight at school after a simple accident leads everyone to believe she attempted suicide. The season follows her through battling with her subsequent "weird girl" image and the ups and downs of high school friendships and romance. It's very well done.

Rudolph's Shiny New Year (8pm, ABC) - Red Skelton narrates this tale about the shiny-nosed reindeer on a special mission for Santa. Frank Gorshin and Morey Amsterdam lend their voices.

The Closer (9pm, TNT) - The federal lawsuit against Brenda heats up in the wake of a murder. As Brenda's lawyer (Mark Pellegrino) goes to court for her, she turns to a businessman (Jason George) for help with the murder case.

Rizzoli & Isles (10pm, TNT) - In the Season 2 finale, Jane and Maura investigate a warehouse fire that took the life of a firefighter. A hit-and-run incident soon complicates the case. Billy Burke and Jacqueline Bissett guest star.

What to Watch on Monday: A revamped "Law & Order: Los Angeles"

Civil Warriors (8pm, National Geographic Channel) - A three-hour special that uses interviews with descendants to tell the stories of their ancestors' roles in the Civil War.

House (8pm, Fox) - Thirteen reappears and it seems she has just been released from prison. Naturally, House devotes his energy to finding out how she landed there.

Law & Order: Los Angeles (9pm, NBC) - A revamped 'LOLA' returns with two back-to-back new episodes. The first episode involves violence at a quinceañera that leaves multiple people dead, and the second episode has detectives investigating a deadly home invasion. Here's what we know about the revamp: Skeet Ulrich (right) is leaving the show and will be "written out" during tonight's first episode. Expect sadness. Regina Hall, who played a deputy DA, will also exit in that episode. Alfred Molina's character leaves the DA's office to return to the streets as a detective, so he and Terrence Howard (deputy DA) will appear in each episode instead of alternating. Also worth noting, Tim DeKay ('White Collar') guest stars in tonight's second episode.

Being Human (US) (9pm, Syfy) - In the Season 1 finale, Josh and Sally try to save Aiden following Bishop's attack, and Nora learns the truth about Josh. Also, we find out how Aidan and Josh met.

American Experience: The Great Famine (9pm, UNC-TV) - The U.S. efforts to help Soviet Russia survive a famine in the early 1920s are recalled. Herbert Hoover (then the American Relief Administration chairman) championed the effort, sending almost 300 relief workers to Russia. The documentary includes archival footage and photos and interviews with survivors and historians.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - A star swimmer with Olympic dreams is found dead in a pool and crime novelists Michael Connelly and Dennis Lehane appear as themselves to help Castle dissect the complex case over a game of poker.

The United States of Tara (10:30pm, Showtime) - Between college and planning Charmaine's baby shower, Tara reaches a breaking point and transitions, which sets off a battle for control among her alters.

What to Watch on Saturday: British invasion of vampires, actresses, royal love

Prince William & Catherine: A Royal Love Story (8pm, OWN) - A two-part report on Prince William and Kate Middleton's romance begins with her first notice of him as a secondary-school student. They actually met at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where they were friends before they dated.

Being Human (UK) (9pm, BBC America) - Herrick pits George against Mitchell in the Season 3 finale, and Nina's fate hangs in the balance while Annie battles Lia for Nina's soul.

Death of a Sea Monster (9pm, National Geographic Channel) - Archaeologists examine the fossilized remains of huge marine predators from the Jurassic era, including a complete ichthyosaur skeleton on a large island in the Arctic. Not a documentary about the passing of Sigmund.

Ferocious Planet (9pm, Syfy) - An experimental device malfunctions, transporting a group of observers to another dimension. The group must repair the machine in order to return home, while fending off bloodthirsty creatures.

Colin Quinn: Long Story Short (10pm, HBO) - Colin Quinn's acclaimed one-man Broadway show in which he relates the history of the world by juxtaposing historic events and more modern times. Read more.

Saturday Night Live (11:29pm, NBC) - British actress Helen Mirren is the host and the musical guest is the Foo Fighters.

What to Watch on Monday: Hoops championship, 'Harry's Law' finale

NCAA Tournament Championship (9pm, CBS) - The National Champion will be crowned tonight.

Relapse (9pm, A&E) - Yet another A&E reality show about people battling addictions. In this one, sober coaches help prevent high-risk addicts from relapsing. See our review here.

Being Human (US) (9pm, Syfy) - Sally copes with the aftermath of her exorcism.

American Pickers (9pm, History) - A California salvage yard that's been in the family for generations is discovered. In the spotlight tonight, a brass diving helmeet and a rare car hood ornament.

Nurse Jackie (10pm, Showtime) - Dr. O'Hara's anger at Jackie drives her to look for a new job, and Akalitus launches a campaign to bring first lady Michelle Obama to the hospital.

Harry's Law (10pm, NBC) - In the first season finale, Harry (Katy Bates) defends Josh Peyton when he's charged with assault after suffering a mental breakdown. Also, Adam and Rachel defend a death-row inmate, but the case is jeopardized by a clerical error. It's likely this show will get picked up for a second season.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - Castle and Beckett investigate the death of a reporter found in a pizzeria's oven. His murder may be connected to an expose he wrote called "The Pizza Wars."

All About Aubrey (10pm, Oxygen) - Russell Simmons offers a frustrated Aubrey advice about her love life.

What to Watch on Monday: Salute to Bush 41, return of 'Jackie' and 'Tara'

All Together Now: A Celebration of Service (8pm, NBC) - American public service and volunteerism are saluted in a gala spotlighting the service of former U.S. president George H.W. Bush. Fellow former presidents Bill Clinton (who serves as co-chair of the event), George W. Bush, and Jimmy Carter are all in attendance. President Barack Obama narrates a short film about the value of service. Performances by Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Cee Lo Green, Reba McEntire, Sam Moore, Brad Paisley, Kid Rock, Darius Rucker, and Carrie Underwood.

Dancing with the Stars (8pm, ABC) - Week two of performances. Like I need to remind you.

The Event (9pm, NBC) - Martinez and Sterling have the Sleepers surrounded, but a national disaster triggered by Sophia forces them to the negotiating table.

Being Human - US (9pm, Syfy) - Danny finds an exorcist to remove Sally from the house and Nora drops a bombshell on Josh. Also, Bishop warns Marcus and Aiden that there is a traitor among them.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - Castle and Beckett investigate when a juror for a socialite's murder trial is poisoned and dies in court.

Nurse Jackie (10pm, Showtime) - In tonight's Season 3 premiere, Jackie works to set things right with Kevin and Dr. O'Hara following last season's intervention. Also, Dr. Akalitus learns that nearby hospitals are closing, which will stretch the resources of All Saints. Here's our take on where Season 3 seems to be heading.

The United States of Tara (10:30pm, Showtime) - In the Season 3 premiere, Tara decides to go back to college, but Max thinks it's a bad idea and worries that the stress will conjure up one of her alters.
