Triangle Volleyball Club teams advance to nationals
Submitted by teribb on 05/24/2011 - 05:14The Triangle Volleyball Club will send seven teams to Atlanta this summer to compete in the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships.
The first of the Morrisville-based club’s teams to qualify was Triangle 18 Black, which qualified in the 18 Open division by finishing third at the Big South National Qualifier in early April.
The remaining six bids were earned at Carolina Region bid tournaments held in Greensboro on April 30.

AT&T to terminate 221k square foot lease with Highwoods in Atlanta

Raleigh-based Highwoods announced the move during its conference call with analysts this morning.
AT&T is consolidating its footprint into company-owned space.

ATLANTA – North Carolina coach Roy Williams felt so fortunate Sunday that his team was trailing by only one point at halftime, he figured his Tar Heels would pull off a third straight come-from-behind victory.
Not even close.
Georgia Tech, ranked last in the league in field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, stifled the Tar Heels for a 78-58 win. UNC (12-5, 2-1 ACC) couldn’t stop Iman Shumpert (30 points) or Glen Rice Jr. (24) and turned the ball over 18 times. To top it off, the Heels went the final 8:47 of the game without hitting field goal.
Canes 3 Thrashers 2 (SO)
Submitted by chipalexander on 12/16/2010 - 21:19ATLANTA -- It took 30 games, but the Carolina Hurricanes finally got their first look Thursday at the Atlanta Thrashers.
Turns out, it was a long look.
The Hurricanes and Thrashers went 60 minutes, then an overtime, before finally settling it in a shootout. Carolina won it 3-2, getting shootout goals from Jussi Jokinen and Sergei Samsonov.
