Networks schedule marathons of 'The Jeffersons' and 'Amen'

What better way to grieve the passing of Sherman Hemsley than to revel in some of his finest work? Here's how you can get your Hemsley fix this week.

First off, TV One airs "The Jeffersons" and "Amen" each weekday morning from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. But on Friday, TV One will replace their scheduled "Good Times" marathon with "The Jeffersons" from 8 p.m. to midnight. That marathon will feature the series premiere, "A Friend in Need," and other classic episodes for the George Jefferson character ("George's First Vacation," "Movin' on Down," "Louise Suspects," "George the Philanthropist," "Once a Friend," "The Ones You Love," and "The List").

On TV: Ernest Borgnine marathons planned

Here are a couple of Ernest Borgnine tributes I've run across so far today. Borgnine passed away Sunday at the age of 95.

-Antenna TV will run a 21-hour marathon of "McHale's Navy" beginning at 7 a.m. on Sunday, July 15. That's 42 episodes of the series that ran from 1962-1966 and starred Borgnine as Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale. Antenna TV is a channel affiliated with WNCN NBC-17. It broadcasts locally over-the-air on 17.2 or on Time Warner Cable on channel 118. (In Charlotte, check WJZY channel 46.2; and in the Triad area, it's on WGHP Fox 8's channel 8.2.)

-Turner Classic Movies will have a 24-hour movie marathon on July 26. They'll air ten films, including "Marty" and "From Here to Eternity," and a "Private Screenings" interview with TCM host Robert Osborne. It starts at 6 a.m. TCM airs on channels 67, 621, and 1621 on Time Warner Cable; 256 and 1256 on DirecTV; 132 on Dish; and 790 and 1790 on AT&T U-Verse.
