Whale Wars (9pm, Animal Planet) - Capt. Watson tries to cut off the transfer of a dead whale between Japanese ships, and that leads to a full-speed collision. To see the events that lead up to this dangerous encounter, tune in for the repeat eps at 7pm and 8pm. 

Monk (9pm, USA) - Daniel Stern guest stars when Monk investigates the disappearance of a young girl, which could be related to reports of a UFO sighting. 

Psych (10pm, USA) - In a plot right out of "Scooby Doo," Shawn and Gus look into a series of strange occurences which are threatening to shut down an Old West tourist attraction. James Brolin guest stars.

Real Time with Bill Maher (10pm, HBO) -  Jay Leno stops by "Real Time" to suck the funny out of HBO. I'm kidding! I'm kidding! I kid Jay Leno! I'm sure he'll be hilarious.

Making Over America with Trinny and Susannah (10pm, TLC) - The series debut of a new show featuring the women behind the original (aka British) version of "What Not to Wear."

Into the Pride (8pm, Animal Planet) - Ten weeks into his stay with the pride of "problem lions" at Namibia's Erindi Private Game Reserve, Dave Salmoni is troubled by his lack of progress with Cleo (left), the queen of the pride, who only wants Dave to disappear. If you know what I mean.

Real Housewives of Atlanta (9pm, Bravo) - First we get the "director's cut" of last week's "Unbeweavable" episode in which Sheree tried to "shift" Kim's wig. Not sure exactly what that means. Extra fight footage? Then in a new episode at 10pm, Sheree attends a bodybuilding event and Kim has some nanny drama when she finds out her kids have been left unattended. All of which begs the question: Why does a woman without a job need a nanny? 

Project Runway: All-Star Challenge (8pm, Lifetime) - Before the official start of the new season (which begins at 10pm), eight designers from previous seasons compete for a $100,000 prize. Nicole Kidman makes a cameo appearance, setting up a challenge for the eight contestants. In the 10pm Project Runway season six premiere, 16 fresh hopefuls are introduced and begin their competition. Series regulars Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia return. The show, which previously aired on Bravo and was based in New York City, is now based in Los Angeles.

Into the Pride (8pm, Animal Planet) - Dave Salmoni lives with a rogue, aggressive pride of "problem lions" in Nambia in hopes of saving them from elimination. Because of eco-tourism in the area, if the lions can't be calmed down, they will be destroyed. There's a second episode at 9pm in which Salmoni stands up to Brutus, the pride's dominant male cat. I know Salmoni is still alive because I saw him on the "Today" show Wednesday. But even knowing he's alive, the footage of him facing down a charging Brutus with only a wooden staff for protection is heart-stopping.

Royal Pains (10pm, USA) - Andrew McCarthy is back as Tucker's dad, who decides to undergo a rapid detox system to kick his drug habit, even though Hank tells him the idea is dangerous. That means Hank will have to save his life with a garden hose and a ball point pen before the episode ends.

Real Housewives of Atlanta (10pm, Bravo) - Tonight, Bravo tells us that we see the "fallout" from Kim's meeting last week with NeNe and Sheree. This is the episode where Sheree, who apparently does not care that she has young children who will most likely watch these episodes one day, tries to pull off Kim's wig during an argument. 

Groomer Has It (9pm, Animal Planet) - The three remaining contestants must create grooming instructional videos. 

Harper's Island (9pm, CBS) - An explosion destroys the marina as the surviving wedding party members try to leave the island via boat. 

Eli Stone (10pm, ABC) - ABC finished up the unfairly-cancelled "Pushing Daisies" last week, so tonight they taunt you with another show you probably wish they'd kept around a little longer. Behold the last few eps of "Eli Stone."

Man vs. Cartoon (10pm, truTV) - A pair of rocket-powered roller skates are tested by a stuntman. For real.
