American Dance Festival gets new director

Durham's American Dance Festival has hired Jodee Nimerichter to succeeed long-time festival director Charles Reinhart.

Reinhart retired last year after leading the festival for 43 years.

Nimerichter has worked at the festival for the past 20 years and served as co-director and associate director for the festival since 2007 and will become the first woman to solely lead the festival, which features dance performances and workshops for six weeks each summer.

Nimerichter plans to introduce several new initiatives including programs aimed at expanding ADF outside of North Carolina, providing year-round festival opportunities and outreach activities and engaging audiences.

Coming Sunday: Favorite photos of 2010

Photos are a big part of The Durham News. Some of the best come from you readers. This Sunday we rerun some of our favorite pictures of 2010, including this Best Shot submission from Michelle Dubow, who photographed audience members attending an ADF performance at DPAC.  Stunning. By the way, we got several pictures of last weekend's snow. To see a gallery of photos from Durham and Orange County readers please go here.
