Durham's American Dance Festival has hired Jodee Nimerichter to succeeed long-time festival director Charles Reinhart.
Reinhart retired last year after leading the festival for 43 years.
Nimerichter has worked at the festival for the past 20 years and served as co-director and associate director for the festival since 2007 and will become the first woman to solely lead the festival, which features dance performances and workshops for six weeks each summer.
Nimerichter plans to introduce several new initiatives including programs aimed at expanding ADF outside of North Carolina, providing year-round festival opportunities and outreach activities and engaging audiences.
