Green Hope golfers win Mideast Regional, so does Athens Drive's Ehlert
Submitted by jmikeblake on 05/04/2009 - 22:43Alex Ehlert of Athens Drive shot a one-over-par 73 on Monday to be the medalist in the N.C. High School Athletic Association Mid-East boys golf regional at Anderson Creek Golf Club. The top three teams — Green Hope, Northern Durham and Apex — advance to the NCHSAA 4-A finals next week along with the top three finishers who are not members of a qualifying team. Joining Ehlert as qualifying individuals are Durham Riverside's Jack Garrett and Fuquay-Varina's Harrison Ashworth. Both shot 74. Green Hope dominated the team competition with a 303. Northern Durham and Apex each shot a 314. Northern Durham advances as the No. 2 team by winning the tie-breaker.
