Wednesday grocery deals, Oct. 10-16

Among the highlights of this week's grocery deals in the Triangle:

*Aldi has several fantastic produce buys, including three pounds of pears for $1.49.

*Food Lion has BOGO sales on Ronzoni pasta and Frito Lay 20-count snack sacks that would be handy for school lunches. And both products have coupon match-ups to make the deals even sweeter.

*Lowes Foods has a "Buy 10, Get $5 off" sale on Kraft foods, along with its continuing in-store coupon sale. Match those deals up with manufacturer coupons and cake frosting is free again this week, and cake and brownie mixes are just 25 cents each.

*Harris Teeter has a seafood sale, a Boar's Head deli promotion, a Kraft Foods promotion, a General Mills promotion and several "Buy 2, Get 3 Free" sales. Among the deals: Progresso soups for just 26 cents a can and Old El Paso taco shells for 15 cents per package.

Wednesday grocery deals (Oct. 3-9)

It's a BOGO kind of week at the grocery stores with all three supermarkets offering some pretty enticing Buy One, Get One Free deals.

Also noteworthy:

*Harris Teeter has several Buy 2, Get 3 Free offers, milk for just $2.77 per gallon, free cereals, free taco seasoning and 9-cent Dove chocolate.

*Lowes Foods has a slew of 97-cent produce bargains, a gasoline rewards promo, free cookie mixes, 15-cent cereal, and a P&G promo that will earn you a pink cookware set in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

*Food Lion has some stellar produce bargains along with the same offer of free pink cookware with a $30 P&G purchase.

*And at Aldi, you'll find pineapple for $1.19 each and cantaloupe for $1.29 each as well as other great produce deals.

Wednesday grocery deals (Sept. 26 - Oct. 2)

Cheap produce prices are the big news in Triangle grocery stores this week. You can pick up everything from grapes and seasonal apples and pears to mushrooms and carrots -- all for less than $1 per pound.

Milk, eggs and chicken are also bargain priced this week. Milk is just $2.88 per gallon at Lowes Foods and eggs are 99 cents a dozen at Harris Teeter. Chicken fryers are 69 cents per pound at Harris Teeter and chicken leg quarters are just 59 cents per pound at Food Lion.

In short, it's a great week to stock up on the basics.

Wednesday grocery deals (Sept. 19-25)

For the second week in a row, Harris Teeter is grabbing the grocery deal headlines. Last week, it was a Super Double coupon event. This week, there are opportunities for free lunchbox snacks, cheap cereals (how does 12 cents a box sound?), free Truvia sweetener, and free Dawn dish liquid.

On top of that, there are numerous BOGO deals and Buy 2, Get 3 Free deals. And on top of that, Harris Teeter is offering a $5/$25 coupon on the front page of its circular in today's N&O.

At Lowes Foods, look for stellar deals on ground beef, Russet potatoes, Lance Cracker Creations, Nathan's Fries, Quaker Grits and Truvia, among others. There's also an opportunity to earn a 15-cent fuel rewards bonus on Special K products.

At Food Lion, the store-brand Super Sale continues, rewarding you for purchasing My Essentials products.

And at Aldi, check out the produce deals, including a pound of baby carrots for 69 cents and five pounds of red potatoes for just $1.29.

Wednesday grocery deals (Sept. 12-18)

The grocery headlines definitely belong to Harris Teeter this week with its Super Double coupon promotion running through Sept. 18.  Head over HERE for an extensive list of freebies and good deals, many of them under $1.

But don't completely rule out a trip to Lowes Foods, Food Lion and Aldi, where you'll be able to score split chicken breasts for 97 cents per pound, Turkey Hill ice cream for $2, Progresso soups for just 75 cents a can and several nice produce bargains, including cucumbers for 29 cents each and avocados for 59 cents each.

Wednesday grocery deals (Sept. 5-11)

Free Greek yogurt, free Progresso Recipe Starters, free and ultra cheap Old El Paso products, and Cascadian Farm cereals for under $1 are among the deals you can score at Triangle grocery stores this week.

There are also stand-out deals on produce, including carrots, grapes, peaches, plums and nectarines -- all for under $1 per pound. On top of that, one Triangle store has cantaloupe for just $1.29 each.

In the protein department, Harris Teeter has ground beef and turkey breasts for under $2 per pound while Lowes Foods and Food Lion are offering chicken breasts for under $2 per pound.

And finally, Harris Teeter has the best deal on milk at $2.97 per gallon, Lowes Foods is offering several fuel rewards deals and Food Lion is promoting its store brands with coupons for money off future orders.

With Labor Day weekend just a few days away, the grocery stores are offering lots of sales on picnic foods, including nice deals on hot dogs, buns, condiments, deli salads, soda, bottled water, ice cream and paper goods.

There are also some great produce bargains, including:

  • cantaloupe for $1.49 at Harris Teeter,
  • honeydew melon for $1.29 each at Aldi
  • four pound bags of red potatoes for just 97 cents at Lowes Foods
  • green peppers and cucumbers for 50 cents each at Food Lion.

Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods are offering great deals this week on kitchen staples such as yogurt, peanut butter, milk, bread, shredded cheese, chicken breasts, ground beef and coffee.

I've included the very best of the deals from the new circulars as well as a host of unadvertised specials with outstanding coupon match-ups.

In the produce department, each of the stores has some nice deals:

  • seedless grapes for 97 cents per pound at Harris Teeter
  • cantaloupe for $1.50 each at Food Lion
  • tomatoes on the vine for $1.19 per pound at Aldi
  • five pounds of Russet potatoes for $1.97 at Lowes Foods

On top of that, Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter are both offering nice "Meal Deal" specials. Coupons make these even better deals.

Wednesday grocery deals (Aug. 15-21)

There are great deals this week on split chicken breasts, frozen chicken breasts, shrimp, London Broil, Birds Eye Steamfresh veggies, Gevalia coffee, back-to-school snacks, cereals and Pantene and Herbal Essences hair care products -- just to name a few.

I've included the very best of the deals from the new circulars as well as a host of unadvertised specials with outstanding coupon match-ups.

On top of that, Lowes Foods is offering 10 opportunities for enhanced fuel rewards when you buy select products while Food Lion is offering a gift card promotion for fans of P&G products.

And finally, don't overlook the produce deals at Aldi, which include bananas for 44 cents a pound and mangoes for 59 cents each.

Harris Teeter's Super Doubles promotion is the big headline in grocery news this week with with lots of freebies and ultra cheap deals. Head over HERE for an extensive list.
