ACC-issued suspensions are rare

The ACC has a policy for all sports on public criticism of officials, adopted in Oct. 1988, but it rarely leads to a suspension.

The conference has suspended three coaches, in three different sports, for one game each in the past 21 years. Steve Spurrier, Duke's football coach in 1988, was the first to get suspended in Nov. 1988, and is the only football or basketball coach on the list.
