What to Watch on Thursday: Time to give "Perfect Couples" a shot

Perfect Couples (8:30pm, NBC) - I have decided this new sitcom about three messed up couples is unfairly maligned, so tonight I encourage everyone to give it a shot. It's not perfect (ha), but it has some solid crack-up moments. In this episode, Dave and Julia deal with jealousy after Dave meets a woman while hiking and Julia hits it off with a coworker. Not to be left out, Vance and Amy play games to make each other jealous. Also, Rex has trouble talking to Leigh about their financial troubles.

Community (8pm, NBC) - Everyone is a suspect when Annie's favorite pen goes missing, so the group lock themselves in until the thief is found. Jeff heads up the investigation but Abed and Troy (left) aren't as invested in the mystery because they want to go to a nearby puppy parade.

30 Rock (8:30pm, NBC) - Jack manipulates a congressional election to help a candidate (John Slattery, "Mad Men"), thereby leveraging an advantage for the network. Meanwhile, a perfect pair of new jeans gives Liz confidence.

CSI (9pm, CBS) - A dead body is discovered beneath piles of garbage inside the house of a woman who is known for hoarding, and she becomes the prime suspect in the case.

Jersey Shore (10pm, MTV) - The Season 2 finale ends with a huge fight between Pauly D. and J-Woww.

What to Watch on Thursday: Live from New York, it's "30 Rock!"

Bones (8pm, Fox) - Brennan makes a deal with a celebrity professor (David Alan Grier) to be her new intern after he inquires about hosting his children's science show from the Jeffersonian. Also, a dismembered corpse is identified as a bounty hunter, and the team find they're not the only ones looking for a fugitive who is wanted for murder.

30 Rock (8:30pm, NBC) - In this episode, performed live, Liz Lemon fumes during show night when the "TGS" gang all forget that it's her 40th birthday. Meanwhile, Tracy concludes that it's hilarious whenever an actor breaks character and laughs, so he does that all night long. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (10pm, Bravo) - Same story, different city. Tonight is the first episode.

What to Watch on Thursday: A "Promise" from Springsteen

Bones (8pm, Fox) - Brennan's whirlwind tutorial in pop culture gets put to the test when she and Booth investigate the remains of a 23-year-old man who was seen carousing the previous night at a Jersey shore nightclub.

Community (8pm, NBC) - Solidly funny every single week. Tonight, the gang rallies around Pierce (Chevy Chase) when his mother dies, and Professor Duncan (John Oliver) takes over Anthropology 101 when Professor Bauer (Betty White) takes a leave of absence.

30 Rock (8:30pm, NBC) - Jack goes before Congress hoping to use his wiles and charms in a debate about NBC's merger with Comcast. I mean, KableTown. When a congresswoman (Queen Latifah) pushes for more diversity in programming, Jack turns to Tracy for ideas. Rob Reiner also guest stars.

The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town (9pm, HBO) - Interviews and archival footage chronicle the creative process, recording sessions, and legal problems that preceded the 1978 release of Bruce Springsteen's fourth album, "Darkness on the Edge of Town." Here's a nice Brian Williams interview with Springsteen about the film and album.

What to Watch on Thursday: Tried and true lineup changes little

Big Bang Theory (8pm, CBS) - For Season 4, "Big Bang Theory" moves to a new night and new time (formerly Monday nights at 9pm) where it goes up against "Community." Yikes (for both shows). Tonight, Sheldon goes on his first date ever and it's with Amy Fowler (Mayim Bialik). Somehow, Penny finds herself accompanying them.

Community (8pm, NBC) - In the Season 2 opener, the group reconvene to study for their anthropology class, which is taught by a kooky professor (Betty White, of course). Meanwhile, Senor Chang enrolls at Greendale in hopes of joining the study group.

Bones (8pm, Fox) - Season 6 begins seven months after last season's finale when the Jeffersonian team disbanded. They are called by to Washington when a case involving a case involving the body of an unidentified young boy could cost Cam her job.

My Generation (8pm, ABC) - A contrived new series from ABC in which a film crew revisits a group of high school students in Texas who were the subjects of a documentary style reality show ten years earlier. I urge you not to waste your time.

30 Rock (8:30pm, NBC) - Season 5 has Jack interfering with Liz's blooming romance with Carol (Matt Damon) in an effort to help her finally win a man's heart, and Tracy copes with Kenneth's termination as NBC page.

$#*! My Dad Says (8:30, CBS) - This new show (pronounced "Bleep My Dad Says") is based on a popular Twitter feed chronicling the outrageous observations of one guy's dad. It's a flimsy premise, even if it does star William Shatner. Check out our review.

"30 Rock's" Tracy Morgan coming to Raleigh

I don't see how it's going to help him get his EGOT, but Tracy Morgan (aka Tracy Jordan from NBC's Emmy award-winning "30 Rock") is coming to Raleigh to do a four-day stand-up gig in September.

Morgan, who also starred on "Saturday Night Live," will perform at Goodnight's Comedy Club on Morgan Street, practicing material for an upcoming HBO special.

Another SNL alum appearing at Goodnight's soon is Kevin Nealon, who currently plays a stoner accountant on Showtime's "Weeds."

Nealon appears August 27-28 and Morgan appears September 2-5. Get more information at the Goodnight site.

What to Watch on Thursday: Matt Damon on "30 Rock" finale

Bones (8pm, Fox) - In the fifth season finale, the death of a hoarder has the team sifting through the man's many possessions looking for clues. Angela gets a visit from her father, ZZ Top guitarist Billy F. Gibbons (left, as himself).

Community (8pm, NBC) - The Season 1 finale has Britta and Professor Slater vying for Jeff's affection. Also, when Abed doesn't ask Troy to be his roommate, Troy is left pondering their friendship. I'm sure Abed based the decision on some random classic sitcom trope.

Parks & Recreation (8:30pm, NBC) - Leslie wants to hold a children's concert in this Season 2 finale, but the visiting state accountant Adam gets in the way. Rob Lowe guest stars (R.I.P. Robert from "Brothers & Sisters").

Grey's Anatomy (9pm, ABC) - The hospital is under siege from a gunman in tonight's two-hour season finale. Expect lots of drama and some big news from Meredith.

Keep reading for more big finale news ...
