2012 football schedule and analysis: Wake Forest

Outlook: There’s a lot to like about Wake Forest’s 2012 football schedule. There are seven home games and all are winnable considering the fact that Grobe’s teams generally have played well against ACC Atlantic Division heavy Clemson.

September home games against Liberty, UNC, Army and Duke should give the Deacs a chance to start 4-1.

2012 ACC football schedule released

The ACC on Monday released its 2012 football schedule. As had been previously announced, N.C. State will begin play earlier than the rest of the conference. The Wolfpack will begin the season on Aug. 31 against Tennessee at Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

North Carolina opens the season on Sept. 1 at Kenan Stadium against Elon, while Duke hosts Florida International at Wallace Wade Stadium. Wake Forest, meanwhile, will begin the season on Sept. 1 at home against Liberty.

2012 football schedule and analysis: Duke

Outlook: With September home games against Florida International, N.C. Central and Memphis, the Blue Devils yet again have an opportunity to enter October with a winning record. But that’s been the case for the past two seasons, and the Devils couldn’t capitalize.

The game against UNC on Oct. 20 in Durham is the earliest in the series since Oct. 16, 1926.
