Keep those running shoes laced up for a busy schedule

The weather is turning colder, but around the Triangle fall - and even winter - will provide great days for running in road races and cross country events.

Two of the Triangle’s bigger events on a very full fall schedule (a list is below) take place over the next two weeks, with the City of Oaks Marathon and Rex Healthcare Half Marathon on Nov. 7 and the Old Reliable Run on Nov. 14.

Nov. 7 also is World Run Day.

Fenton, Easterling, Wright Colopy and Bowler win Cary Road Race titles

Derek Fenton, 39, of Holly Springs and Elise Easterling, 22, of Chapel
Hill took home the 10K titles from the 31st annual Cary Road Race on
Saturday.

More than 1,000 participants turned out for the 10K and 5K in the
event, which is the area's oldest continuous running event.

Moore, Liming run to WakeMed Cary Distance Festival 10K victories

A beautiful day, a record turnout and a fast field dominated by Raleigh's Joseph Moore highlighted Saturday's 15th annual WakeMed Cary Distance Festival, part of the Triangle's Second Empire Grand Prix Series.

A record field of 461 runners and walkers registered for the 10K and 5K
road races, which were held under a sunny sky with no wind and a
temperature in the mid 50s, race organizer Jim Young of Young &
Associates reported.

Moore, 26, covered the USA Track and Field-certified 10K course in 31
minutes, 16 seconds.
