Williams gets more work

Bookmark and Share

Canes forward Justin Williams is getting more and more ice time in his drive to return to the lineup ahead of schedule.

Williams, who tore his Achilles tendon before training camp began, was at the RBC Center this morning, working with forward Patrick Eaves and assistant coach Tom Rowe.

Williams was skating, stickhandling and shooting.  He and Eaves got in a little two-on-one work against goalie Michael Leighton, with once collecting the puck behind the net, then spinning for a wraparound.

Williams, in a yellow noncontact jersey, then joined the team practice for a short time, working on a line with Brandon Sutter and Eaves.

Agreed

While I admire Justin's hard work and determination to get back as soon as possible...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...don't rush it and risk further injury....we all remember what happened last year...but these are professional athletes and professional training staffs, and I assume (HOPE) they know what they are doing.

Glad to get Eaves back, though he has seemed to have become a bit of a whipping post around here, I hope he can stay healthy and (finally) show what he can do...and I agree that he and the coaching staff need to figure out/define his role....if not, Dwyer definitely did a great job and is waiting in the wings to push for playing time. Thanks for the hard work Patrick!

Agree

That is a tough injury to heal, I hope they are careful with it.
Dwyer did play his role well here, Eaves needs to define what he going to be for this club, then do it well. First off I guess he needs to stay healthy.

Good to see

As well as rwad that Justin is getting or trying to get back into playing shape...but i too don't want him to push it too hare, too fast Those tendons are made of flesh & fiber...and if not taken care of...can tear yet again...Was also sad to see & read that Dwyer...was sent back to Albany...while they need him as bad as we do...it was good to see him make a positive impact for the Canes. What's the latest poop on Eaves ?? Thanks for the info Chip !!

Go Canes !
