Ward activated from IR

Bookmark and Share

The Hurricanes have activated goaltender Cam Ward from injured reserve, and coach Paul Maurice said Ward could start Saturday against the New York Rangers.

Ward, who has missed the last four games with a groin injury, was sharp in practice today at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. Maurice said he was waiting on strength and conditioning director Pete Friesen to "green light" Ward.

"Cam looked game-ready to me," Maurice said.

Ward was injured against Anaheim on Nov. 30. He has an 8-7-2 record with a 2.68 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.

The Canes have reassigned goalie Justin Peters to Albany (AHL).

Goalies

Goalies come and they go, yet it is sad that and while there was "some" help from the rest of the canes but it according to those who saw the game on TV posted, it wasn't enough. And The team as a whole should NOT have stopped playing as they did in the first 40 minutes of the game. But we all forget in our journey for perfection and the cup, that all we fans can do is sit, watch and hope ...cause beating a dead horse won't help anyone to win a derby will it ? Personally my arm is sore
and i gave up last season...I"m still IR...;-}

Go Rats !!

Maybe

The rats would like their AHL goalie of the year back.  I'd give him back ;)

Leighton; can we have a refund please?

After Leighton's miserable performances against the Flyers at home and last night, it's painfully obvious that he is not ready for prime time. His poor play was responsible for two overtime losses in two out of four games. Maybe he is the star goalie of the AHL, but he is sadly lacking for NHL standards. Last night from the third period on was the worst I've ever seen any NHL goalie on any team perform. The wounded duck flop in overtime looked like something out of a comedy routine -- maybe a Stormy intermission move. How does a goalie even walk back into the locker room after that kind of pathetic demonstration?

let's hope

Ward will seize the opportunity to impress his new coach. Cam has yet to step between the pipes under Maurice. I hope during his visit to IR he's found whatever he needs to be more consistent. He has the skills.

Sure

And pigs might one day fly too!

LOL

Cool

Maybe we don't lose as bad with a non backup goalie in net.

Thank God!  Anyone who

Thank God!  Anyone who questioned Cam's value as a #1 goalie has had time to rethink that.

I'm looking forward to a big return tomorrow night.
