The Canes today assigned forward Jeff Skinner and defenseman Justin Faulk to the Charlotte Checkers (AHL).
In another move, the Canes assigned defenseman Ryan Murphy back to the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League.
A total of 28 players have been assigned to Charlotte. The Canes on Friday put 11 players on waivers with the intent of assigning them to the Checkers. All cleared waivers today.
In addition to those 11, the others assigned are: forwards Skinner, Zac Dalpe, A.J. Jenks, Riley Nash, Victor Rask, Justin Shugg, Jared Staal, Brody Sutter, and Jeremy Welsh; defensemen Faulk, Michal Jordan, Tommi Kivisto, Austin Levi, Rasmus Rassanen and Beau Schmitz; and goalie John Muse.

Mon, 09/17/2012 - 16:03 — squeaky83Glad they put Rask in Charlotte instead of sending him back to Juniors. He needs to move up to better competition and continue to develop. Let's see what he's got playing in an even tougher AHL than it would have been without a lockout.
Giving Welsh a little more pro time prior to throwing him out in the NHL will also be a bonus...
...not that's there's much else to be excited about.
