Forwards Sergei Samsonov and Chad LaRose will return to the lineup for the Carolina Hurricanes' game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at the RBC Center tonight at 7 p.m.
Samsonov and LaRose have been skating with the team for several days now and traveled with the team on last week's two-game road trip to Toronto and Detroit.
The Hurricanes hadn't officially announced a decision to send forward Drayson Bowman back down to the Albany River Rats, and while he didn't participate in the morning skate, he was seen around the locker room Monday.
After the skate, coach Paul Maurice said Bowman would go back down with LaRose and Samsonov ready. Maurice apparently kept Bowman around to make a post-skate decision. On Sunday, forward Zach Boychuk was reassigned to Albany.
Also on the ice were forward Tuomo Ruutu, who was injured in a fight last week, and defenseman Joe Corvo, who suffered a severe cut to his leg on Nov. 30.
Maurice said he was hopeful both would get to play a game or two before the break for the Winter Olympics in mid-February.
Of the two, Corvo may be a little bit more questionable for that timeline.
"He is ahead of the curve, so if he's not there, it won't be shocking for us," Maurice said.
Maurice didn't update a timeline for forward Erik Cole, also out with a leg injury.

Walker
Mon, 01/18/2010 - 18:22 — beer210I agree with ctill - Walker was one of the teams more consistent players when he was playing healthy.
Hopefully LaRose can bring it like last season after the time off.
Walker played alright early
Mon, 01/18/2010 - 13:09 — ctillWalker played alright early in the season. I'll argue that in some of those games, Walker was our best player. At one point he was the only Cane with a plus/minus in the black.
Hmmm

Mon, 01/18/2010 - 14:29 — hellfishBowman's 10min of ice time w/no powerplay opps. is HARDLY a chance to see what he's got to bring to the team even though he had 2 shots one counted as a sog and a couple of good hits his time w/Brindy and TK just was not enough time in 1 GAME for the "tryout" keeping him untill we play ATL again on Thursday imo 3 games anyway! heck he barely got unpacked!...you pick Walker/Brindy/Yelle/A.ward/Wallin even Rosey and Cole have NOT warranted THERE being here...so far!
