Ruutu a game-time decision

Bookmark and Share

Canes forward Tuomo Ruutu took part in the morning skate today, showed good mobility and could play tonight in Game 3 against the Penguins, although coach Paul Maurice is playing it coy.

"He got through the morning skate. We're pleased with how that happened," Maurice said. "We'll bring him back tonight and see if there's any increase in swelling, and he's going to make a good decision.

"He knows we've set up the guidelines for what he needs to be able to do to say that he can play in our lineup. But that decision won't be made until tonight."

Ruutu injured an ankle in Game 1 in Pittsburgh and missed Game 2.

Don't risk it...

If Tuomo isn't totally fit, having in on might just aggravate his condition. This is not a good strategy but as it pans out, it might not be that a bad decision after all.

if he's good to go with no

if he's good to go with no risk of further injury by playing - even at 85% - you gotta play him. this is the stanley cup playoffs. plenty of time to rehab in the summer

Hey Canadiac

normally i would agree with you...but as someone who has played, worked and lived hurt ...trust me...if I was Mo, and he (Ruutu) was say 85%...i'd have nbo choice toi scratch him. Again while I see & understand your point...and yes many  past & present have, did and do play hurt, sore and etc...But as the coach ( which thankfully I am NOT) I wouldn't be willing to risk the teams investment nor a team mates body ...in the long run, it wouldn't be worth it. To me or the team. If you are able to have gone to the game...i hope you had a good time...have a safe and great weekend...

Go Canes !!

Yipppiiieee !

it's good to see & read that...but like anyone else, as much as i like him, i would rather have him 100% in a losing manner than 85% win, and have him out with major surgery...in the off season. PT In the summertime totally like sucks...And Chip...wew the little people, the fans...thank you !
