1st Line RW

I hope Zach will be ready for Primetime soon. He can't be any worst. I've seen enough already of Eaves and Ruutu trying to act like they are both a 1st Line RW in the NHL. Try the 3rd line for Ruutu and the 1st line in the AHL for Eaves. At least we got Corvo in the Ottawa trade.

wow... that was a poorly

wow... that was a poorly written article. Hope these will get better for the remainder of the season.

It's not an article, but an ingame blog.  The blogger adds to it as the game progresses.  It's pretty similar to what I've seen on many other sites.

We tried & failed

This time...and yet as bad as it was...it could have been worse...yet we did give as good as we got...yet what kiled us was all the time we spent in the box...and that dear fans...will seperate us from the others...smart penalties...verses..some of the cheap ones we will get is what will cause the D factor to fall on our face. As the Canes were good but when it came to crashing the net agressively...i didn't hear the annoucer ( chet ? or who ever it is on da fan) say anything like that...but again...we tried...and did make it a good show...

Go Canes !

Agreed

What I saw most tonight was flawless and beautiful hockey by the Red Wings. I'll be surprised if they're not representing the West in the Finals. I thought overall that the Canes played well when they weren't in the box. They have to stop with these cheap penalties - hooking and slashing. Props to Bayda and Sutter as well. My big question is where is Eaves. I thought he was ready to show something but I haven't seen it.

Proud of the Guys

Sucks that we lost, but I'm proud of the guys. They hung with the best team in the league and didn't look out of place. Detroit does everything seamlessly from backchecking to clogging the neutral zone to their PP and PK. The first 2 games I was wondering if this team was capable of playing a physical game and tonight they proved they could and it started with Ruutu's monster hit in the 1st. And Bayda was a one man wrecking crew when he was out there.

Cam Ward was amazing tonight and if he continues to play like that every night he starts, good things are going to happen. I also thought our defense did a great job tonight 5-on-5. Best game I've seen from them as a unit to date.

We lost, but there are alot of positives that you can take from this game.

Canes effort

I didn't purchase season tickets last year since just about every game I went to the 'Canes didn't put up much of an effort. So I upped this year and after going to the game tonight, I fear it is a lot of the same. Slow effort in the first period with a couple of flourishes. Second period about the same. Third period absolutely dead for 18 of the 20 minutes.

Poor passing and overskating or not skating. A really big disappointment.

maybe you need to change

maybe you need to change seats.  apparently you aren't watching the same team, or you have an obstructed view.

the canes did seem flat in the 1st.  they didnt have crisp passing and seemed bunched up.  they came out gunning and hitting in the 2nd.  the 3rd both teams came out flat, but we swapped momentum right up until the end.

we had several near misses and had one of those gone in we may have been celebrating a spirited effort.

look, there is 82 games this season, we will lose some, we played the champs and they played well.  we hung in there and i think for the 3rd game in 4 nights we had more spark than i expected.

...better hurry up the red wings bandwagon is about full!

Whaaaa?

No idea what game you were watching... even though they came up on the short end, this game could have gone either way, thanks to two really good performances at each end in net.  Taking it as a 60 minute whole, this was their best overall effort of the 3 games so far.

Let's not forget... this was the third game in 4 nights, with the middle game on the road... this was a game against the defending cup champs + Hossa.... they only gave up two PP goals, one of which Holmstrum scored from right in front on a beautiful tic-tac-toe, the other one of which he screened Cam out on... when they needed that tying goal in the last 5 mins (after the great shift by the 3rd line), the Wings just locked 'em down lining up in the nuetral zone.

Not a win, but no disgrace, and a very enjoyable hockey game to watch.

The Canes have put up many

The Canes have put up many low effort games in the past few years, but last night was not one of them.  They were beaten by a better team.  There was a significant gap in skill through the lineup and it showed.

Oh, and give Ruutu and break on that open net.  The puck was bouncing and on his backhand.  Not easy at all!

Don't know what game you

Don't know what game you were watching, the Canes played close with arguably the best team in the league.  And not to mention our 3 game in 4 days so the players were tired.  Empty net goal doesn't count, that was a hard fought, 1 goal game.
