Picard out; Canes to recall Rodney

Bookmark and Share

The Canes plan to recall defenseman Bryan Rodney from Albany (AHL), coach Paul Maurice said today.

Maurice said defenseman Alex Picard, who suffered an upper-body injury Thursday against the Washington Capitals, was "week-to-week." Picard was on the penalty kill and was hit on the left arm by a Mike Green shot with 3:50 left in the second period.

The Canes will have four defensemen in the lineup tomorrow at Pittsburgh against the Penguins who have played this season for the River Rats: Rodney, Brett Carson, Jamie McBain and Jay Harrison.

Maurice said Manny Legace would start in net against the Pens, with Justin Peters starting Sunday against the Buffalo Sabres at the RBC Center.

even if

Mcbain & Rodney were with the rats last night I have a feeling that the rats still would have lost, but not with the score 8-2...man what a booty whupping that was...looks like Hershey's trying for a repeat for the calder cup

Did you see the game? If not maybe Abramsdoug did. What happened, since the game sheet had an ejection for "abuse of official" and Samson got a late misconduct not tied to any other infraction. Based on penalties it looked like a brawl on the ice and as if the Rats were battling the officals as much l as Hershey.

Assuming they meet up in the playoffs, it will be an interesting series once some of the Rats currently on the Canes are sent back down and they put out a stroinger roster. Hershey is the Caps farm team and the Caps currently are carrying 5 extra players on the big team roster. So doubt they will be calling up anyone for the payoffs.

I saw part of it

but had to switch computers cause my desk top here was busy trying to finish a project i was working on and it slowed the video part way down...and by the time i cranked up my wife's laptop the fights and the game was all but over...and speaking of AHL officals (Refs) they do leave something to be desired...now in defence of refs and linesman as a whole do try to do a good job and get 7 stay out of the way but in the last 3 gmes the rats have played...the opfficating was horrible...many many missed calls...on both sides !!! enjoy this afternoons game...1 hour & 45 mins to go !!

Upper Body Injury

Oh for goodness sake.... why not just call it for what it is.... it's his hand or wrist. He took the shot dead on there and immediately headed to the locker.  These guys are all tough as nails. They know when they can sit on the bench and try to wait out the sting. Or when you know it ain't going to just leave a mark.

This isn't the playoffs or a tight race where guys play hurt and you want to conceal the exact location of the injury.  All this upper/lower body stuff gets old.
