Peters recalled from Albany

The Hurricanes have called up goaltender Justin Peters from the Albany River Rats (AHL) and reassigned forward/defenseman Tim Conboy to the River Rats.

Peters' recall comes after a lower-body injury to goaltender Michael Leighton in the second period of the Canes' 3-2 shootout loss Tuesday in Montreal.Manny Legace replaced Leighton with the Canes leading 2-1.

Goaltender Cam Ward still is healing from a leg laceration suffered Nov. 7 at Columbus and may not be available for another couple of weeks.

Peters, 23, is 6-5-2 in Albany this season with a 2.43 goals-against average and .913 save percentage.

Who would have thought a

Who would have thought a week ago after signing Manny we'd be talking about Peters.

Wow, just wow. And there's a non-zero chance he may get a shot. 7 games in the next 12 days.

Peters

If your not going to play Peters, the Canes probably would have been better off, if they would have brought Tripp Tracey in to be the back up, that would save us fans from having to suffer thru some of the broadcast's on FSCarolina's. It might be a little cheaper than messing around with paying Peters at the AHL vs NHL salary. Hopefully Peters can get some games in.

Be careful what you wish for

Fox Sports would probably put a microphone on Tripp anyway. Then you'd get to hear him comment on his own plays. At the rate we are going through goalies, I hope Peters doesn't get a chance to play unless it is for one of the back-to-back games after Thanksgiving. I hope Manny plays well and stays healthy.

I agree

Peters is here as an emergency backup in case Legace gets hurt. Peters may get in a game if the Canes are stinking it up and  Legace gets the hook. I hope we don't see him either, except to open the door. No way Tripp Tracey is an option ( I do see the humor !)  but that would about be a good representation of the season to see him in goal when the puck drops!  This will be good for Peters even if he doesn't get in a game. He'll get the experiance of being up with the big club. Unless Legace sticks as a backup long term Peters in the next in line behind Leighton.  Say what you will about that.

Justin Peters

that is a good thing...now if Mo will play him on Thursday against the leafs...And Chip...will he come up today or tomorrow morning after the game the Rats have
tonight ?
Go Canes !!

Conboy

I wish we'd do a better job of managing him. I hate when we put him in the lineup and give him 2 minutes. Either cut him loose or play him. It's hard to justify putting him in the lineup, sitting him basically the whole game when our other forwards are completely gased the last 5 minutes of 3rd period. I realize our forwards are depleted, but we don't have the youth to roll 3 lines for 3 periods. If a guy is the lineup he needs to play or he should't be there in the first place.

CONBOY

...is a bit of a psycho, not necessarily a bad thing. He was a high energy guy who played hard-nosed hockey and would stick up for his teammates.  He never has been a skilled player but he has been versatile.   This season he seems to have sorta gone over the edge, that fighting is his raison-de-etre, rather than a  by-product of playing ON the edge.  He doesn't know anymore when to pick a scrap nor with whom.  And too often loses.  When he gets a five-for-fighting, it doesn't much hurt the team as he hasn't brought anything else needed while he's cooling his heels.  He remained up more because he is "cheap" but Mo doesn't trust him very much for 'value-added'.

As for your, "or he shouldn't be there...", he's not, he's gone.

I agree

Since Mo doesn't trust him I just don't see any point to having him there, I mean he played 2 minutes on tuesday, seems like a waste of a roster spot.
