Peters, Legace splitting weekend duties in goal

Bookmark and Share

Canes coach Paul Maurice said today that Justin Peters would start in goal Saturday against the Florida Panthers, with Manny Legace in net Sunday in Atlanta against the Thrashers.

The Canes' seven-game winning streak has come with goaltender Cam Ward sidelined with a back injury. Legace picked up his fourth win in the streak Thursday as Carolina topped Ottawa 4-1.

Peters was the winner Tuesday in the Canes' 5-1 win in Toronto. The rookie is 3-0.

Maurice said Eric Staal, hit in the left leg with a shot in Thursday's game, still was sore. Staal, who stayed in the game, was not among the players on the ice today for an optional practice at the RecZone in Raleigh.

Really off the subject

Yes, we're winning without C. Ward. Seriously-- Edzo?? He stunk on the Olympic coverage-almost as bad as Pierre M. The top line Versus announcers (aka NBC aka Olympics this year) are the worst, and this would include Edzo (unless he got fired from Versus). They ramble on about things that have nothing to do with the game they are broadcasting, laugh like school girls over their inside jokes, name drop every chance they get, don't even know the names of the players, they never correct themselves when they mis-speak, and never miss an opportunity to bore us with tidbits of information from 30 years ago (that no one cares about-sell the new NHL). I watched the Vancouver feed instead-to avoid Mr. O.

Not sure why people rag on Tripp-he and John are a great team. Darren Elliot has been awful when calling Thrashers games-talk about a homer. Too bad we'll be stuck listening to him tomorrow night (probably).

didn't watch game

Your ramblings indicate you didn't watch last nite's game or don't understand what true insight is really about. But, thanks for your opinion. That's why we have this blog.

Off Subject: Vancouver-Chicago TV Production

Watched the Van/Chicago game and its home team tv production quality seemed much higher and better than ours (Canes). Clear crisp HD and in full screen, something we don't seem to get alot.
Our broadcaster, John F. is equal or better than the Hawk's, and Eddie O's color adds something to the games that our color guy, TT, doesn't. Eddie O is insightful but mostly doesn't ramble on and on. He knows when to talk and when not to. He lets the game be in control.
With us (Canes) it seems like TT wants the mic time all the time and what he says can be said in 10 seconds, not the 20 he normally takes. Which all comes down to why if you haven't heard John F. paired with Darren Elliot, you're missing a real treat.
