Monday debate: Coach Brind'Amour

Bookmark and Share
Tags: Canes Now

Rod Brind'Amour now is a member of the Canes' coaching staff and said again Friday his role still is being defined and a "work-in-progress."

He says he will help oversee the "Camp Brind'Amour" informal workouts, will be a big part of preseason training camp and involved in all coaching duties. But ask about how many games he will behind the bench and Brind'Amour says that's still to be determined.

What do you think? Would you like to see Brind'Amour behind the bench every game? Or would it be better to have him in a combination of roles?

The floor is open.

Still on the hook

Rod is still listed as the Raleigh Youth AAA Peewee boys team coach this upcoming season as well. I think he mentioned he would be keeping that obligation. There are a number of "away" weekends, home games and practice times that will entail.

Like The "coach" said

it's a work in progress...and Mo & JR will make the calls...but it will be good to see him as he works and encourages the players...so like others of the Caniac Nation,we'll just have to wait and see what will unfold before us all !! Thanks Chip !!

If It Ain't Hockey,It Ain't Nothing!! Go Canes & Checkers !!

Rod

My guess is that he'll coach at all the home games, some behind the bench, some is the box. I don't know, but it might be easier at first to have him as the "eye in the sky" as you can see beter and, especially, see more from up there. That, and it will be hard to have the 15 players plus 4 coaches as well on or behind the bench.  Too crowded. Road games are tough to call.  I think he'll do some, but not all.  That gives him an opportunity to maybe look at some of the Checkers players and work with them from time to time.  I say 25-30 home games on the bench, and the rest of the home games up in the box.  As for road games, 15-20 which gives him a maximum total of 61.  That number could go as high as 65, depending on how the season takes shape.

Sounds reasonable.
