According to a report at the Bergen County Record’s Fire & Ice blog, Devils beat writer Tom Gulitti said it looks like both Jamie Langenbrunner and Bryce Salvador probably won’t play in Game 5 against the Hurricanes at the Rock in Newark, N.J. on Thursday.
New Jersey coach Brent Sutter said “they’re both probably day to day.”
Langenbrunner, the team’s captain, has missed the last two games with a lower body injury, and the Devils were initially hopeful he’d be ready for Thursday. Veteran Brian Rolston has filled in for Langenbrunner on the Devils’ top line with Zach Parise and Travis Zajac. The new line didn’t miss a beat in Game 3, scoring the first and game-winning goals. Last night, though, the line was effectively shut down.
Salvador left Game 4 in the second period after falling in a pileup in front of the New Jersey crease. He earned a cross checking penalty on the play before Chad LaRose fell on his left leg.

injuries
Thu, 04/23/2009 - 09:41 — louis12580So far, the Devils haven't missed a beat with Langenbrunner out of the line up. Losing Salvador is probably more damaging. The 'Canes need to do what they did the other night. Come out of the gates hard and continue to get in Brodeur's grill. He's getting frustrated. Maybe Chad can call him Hanrahan!
Nice
Thu, 04/23/2009 - 09:14 — GoShelfI am fine with winning through attrition. Salvador has been a beast, I'm completely fine with him being out of the lineup. We need to find a way to hurt Parise.
I feel bad
Thu, 04/23/2009 - 06:06 — esteban1949that they are out, but....not too bad. but as a fan of good and hard played Hockey, i also know that there are times when injuries, both major and minor will happen in a had fought & played game/series. I wish them the best & to heal quickly. After the Canes win the series !!!! Hehehe...
Go Canes !!!!
