Canes defenseman Frank Kaberle, who has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury, was able to practice today at the RecZone and is close to returning to the lineup.
"The fact he did the whole thing is a good sign," coach Paul Maurice said. "He lasted longer than I thought he would."
Defenseman Anton Babchuk, who has been sidelined with an elbow injury, was able to get in an individual workout after practice and said he could be available for Sunday's game at Montreal.

Protect Kaberle
Tue, 12/16/2008 - 11:10 — HockeydogIf they tell the fans then the other team knows as well, and would try to re-injure him. Just life in a contact sport. I don't need to know bad enough to hurt him again.
I forgot...
Tue, 12/16/2008 - 13:02 — xpukguySorry. I forgot that today's players have no respect for each other and will target his "jewels" (does he have any? He certainly doesn't play like it) or other lower body parts.
Nope
Mon, 12/15/2008 - 19:51 — esteban1949it could be something rather personal...you know like a rupture around the "jewels" type of thing...do you really want to know and see pictures too ? I'd hope not. Besides it's a NHL rule..you wouldn't want the canes to break the rules too do ya ? ...esteban sighs...and cranks up his power chair and rolls off towards the zamboni doors and heads out...
Diagnosis
Mon, 12/15/2008 - 17:44 — xpukguyAt this point, shouldn't we be told what the lower body ailment is?
