Canes forward Jussi Jokinen has returned to Finland because of the death of his father, Keijo Jokinen, and will be gone for a week, general manager Jim Rutherford said today.
"He flew to Finland last night to be with his family," Rutherford said. "Our thoughts are with him and his family and we will miss him."
Rutherford said forward Dwight Helminen would be recalled from the Albany River Rats (AHL). Center Brandon Sutter will remain in Albany for another week, he said.
"We want to continue on with Brandon there," Rutherford said. "He's at that point in his development where we feel it's best for him to play more games, so he'll be there one more week before he comes back."
Rutherford said forward Scott Walker, who has been sidelined by post-concussion symptoms, probably would play Tuesday night against the Washington Capitals.
