It's buyout season

Bookmark and Share

It's buyout season in the NHL. While the Hurricanes have already bought out one player (Jeff Hamilton) and moved to buy out another (David Tanabe), the rest of the NHL is following suit.

Here's an (incomplete) list of the players who have either been bought out or are on waivers with that intention:

Shawn Bates, LW, N.Y. Islanders (on waivers)
Todd Bertuzzi, RW, Anaheim (on waivers)
Dan Cloutier, G, Los Angeles (pending?)
Ben Clymer, D, Washington
Marc Denis, G, Tampa Bay
Ray Emery, G, Ottawa
Anders Eriksson, D Calgary (on waivers)
Jeff Hamilton, C, Carolina
Marcus Nilson, RW, Calgary (on waivers)
Jozef Stumpel, C, Florida (pending?)
David Tanabe, D, Carolina (pending)
Darcy Tucker, RW, Toronto
Rhett Warrener, D, Calgary (on waivers)

The waiver information comes from TSN, so take it for what it's worth.

Unappealing Players

Not too many appealing players on that list, except maybe Rhett Warrener.

Offer sheets...

Luke,

Has JR stated any intention of some RFA players he may put offer sheets in for?  If not sprecific names if that is something he is interested in doing... I know some GMs seem to hate that idea of offer sheets.

...or any buy-outs/waiver players he has interest in?

Now that Tanabe has challenged his buy-out, what is JRs take?

Is it just me or is Motley Crues "Don't go away mad, just go away" Tanabes new theme song???  haha
