Golf Digest misses a gimme

Bookmark and Share

Golf Digest released its 2009 list of the Top 150 golfing athletes, with one notable omission: Hurricanes forward Ray Whitney, a plus handicap who tried (but failed) to qualify for the U.S. Open.

Whitney's plus-1.2 index would put him at or near the top of the list if he had been included.

"And I was up to plus-2 at one point," Whitney said.

Also deserving of consideration: goalie coach Tom Barrasso, a single-digit handicapper who has competed in a few celebrity-tour events.

Whitney and Barrasso were both overlooked in 2007, when Jeff O'Neill (55th-tie) and Geoff Sanderson (91st-tie) made the list.

When the Canes arrived I did think much of hockey..... I still have not been to a game, but I'm starting to wonder just what is going on at the games........ Who knows I could be at a game soon......hahahahahaha

And if you think

Thats bad Luke...you should see what coverage the Canes aint getting from other sports venues as well...THN only mentions the canes in passing 90% plus most of the time...with a few ( oh so very few) notable exceptions...i guess most of the sports media outlets still don't think much of NHL Hockey in North Carolina huh ? Thanks for the info Luke...enjoy the rest of your week...
