Gleason 'possible' for Sens game

OTTAWA — Defenseman Tim Gleason put in 70 minutes of practice Monday at Scotiabank Place and may play Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators, coach Paul Maurice said.

Gleason reaggravated an ankle injury Thursday at Florida and did not play Saturday at Boston. Maurice said a decision would be made after Tuesday's pregame skate, saying, "We'll ask him how he feels."

Much of the practice was devoted to creating more offense. Maurice said, "We think we've made strides with the defensive parts of our game. ... But if you have a hard time scoring goals, then you start to cheat on the defensive parts of your game. When you're scoring, it just seems like you just play so much better defensively, because you have the confidence you're going to score and your back-end is making all the good decisions. ...

No line changes after the 5-1 loss at Boston. Matt Cullen is centering the line with Ray Whitney and Justin Williams, and Rod Brind'Amour centering for Scott Walker and Chad LaRose. ...
